  • The Character Died with Him: When Jaclyn Linetsky and Vadim Schneider were killed in a car crash, their characters (Megan O'Conner and Sebastien Dube) were killed in a plane crash on the way back from a tournament.
  • Dawson Casting: Most of the kids were in their late teens/early twenties when filming began; they were supposed to be fifteen. Sunny, who's treated like a little girl, was actually fifteen.
  • In Memoriam: "Curve Balls" ends with "...for Jaclyn and Vadim" and the series finale also provides a dedication.
  • Killed by Request: The parents and relatives of Jaclyn Linetsky and Vadim Schneider requested that the characters be killed off and given a sad farewell so that it wouldn't feel like the actors had quit the show.
  • Looping Lines: The first 13 episodes of Season 1 have numerous episodes where Vadim Schenider's character, Sebastien, speaks with his voice mismatched to his lip movements. These are lines re-recorded by voice actor Philip Le Maistre for portions where Schneider's French-accented English had been difficult to understand. Schneider's death made reshoots and re-recording with the original actor impossible.
  • Method Acting: "Curve Balls" kills off Megan and Sebastien and the scenes of the actors crying were genuine emotions as all of them were mourning the loss of their two friends and colleagues. The next episode also features the characters and actors continuing to grieve.
  • Post-Script Season: Despite the seeming finality of Season 2, the show was renewed for Season 3. As Season 3 was filmed two years after Season 2:
    • The filming location for Cascadia was no longer available, necessitating a shift to Cascadia's "senior campus" (and intercut with footage from Seasons 1 - 2).
    • Tanis' actress, Amanda Crew, was now on the TV show Whistler and unavailable to return full-time, but she came back for the series finale.
    • Cameron's actor, Nwamiko Madden, also didn't return. He said in an interview that God told him that he wasn't to be a successful actor but instead a preacher for the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
    • While actors Max Walker (Squib) and Tyler Hynes (Nate) came back for Season 3, in the two years that had passed, both men had put on more muscle and facial hair and looked significantly different. Nate is particularly unrecognizable since he's bulked up and no longer looks like his skinny, bookish Season 2 self.
