• Actor-Shared Background: Just like Ethelrida, E'myri Crutchfield is biracial but can easily be mistaken as being full-blooded African-American.
• California Doubling: The season is set in Kansas City, but was filmed in Chicago.
• Fake American:
  • Irish actress Jessie Buckley plays the very-Midwestern Nurse Mayflower.
  • British actor Ben Whishaw plays Irish-American mobster Rabbi Milligan.
• Fake Nationality: Kesley Asbille plays the half-Chinese and half-Native-American Swanee Capps. Asbille has played Native Americans in several other works, including Wind River and Yellowstone, but her actual Native American ancestry is controversial. She is primarily of Chinese and European descent and claims to have some Cherokee ancestry, but the tribe does not recognize her as a member. The tribe determines membership by documented lineal descent rather than blood percentage, meaning Asbille may actually have Cherokee ancestors and simply lack the right paperwork to prove it.
• Release Date Change: The show was originally supposed to air in April, just barely squeezing in Emmy eligibility, but the COVID-19 Pandemic halted production just before the final two episodes could be filmed. This resulted in a five month delay before the season finally premiered in September.
