- Dawson Casting: Present in the original, averted in the revival. Kathy Garver was 21 playing 15-year-old Cissy while Anissa Jones was eight playing six in the first season but in the revival, Sasha Pieterse was six playing...six.
- Defictionalization: Sometime after the series aired, Mattel made a line of actual Mrs. Beasley dolls that people could buy.
- Romance on the Set: Kathy Garver dated Gregg Fedderson, who played Cissy's boyfriend Gregg Bartlett and was the son of executive producer Don Fedderson, for a time.
- Suppressed Mammaries: Buffy in later seasons. It did not end well for Anissa Jones, her actress.
- What Could Have Been:
- A Reunion Show was proposed in the 1980s, but it never materialized since the actors for both Buffy and Mr. French were dead by then, and they didn't want to recast the characters.
- Uncle Bill and Cissy were considered to be played by different actors than in the final product. At one point, Glenn Ford was considered for Uncle Bill, but turned the role down, allowing for Brian Keith to take the role. Meanwhile, Kathy Garver was a last-minute replacement as Cissy for an unknown actress who was fired after gaining 15 pounds during a trip to Europe.
- Originally, Jody and Buffy were to be different ages before the producers - likely noting how well Johnny Whittaker and Anissa Jones played off each other and their very close resemblance to each other - decided to make the characters twins.
