Trivia / Fairy Tail (2020)

• Licensed Game: This game is the first Gust has based on a pre-existing property, namely a manga series and its coinciding anime adaptation.
• No Dub for You: As with many games published by Koei Tecmo from the mid 2010s onward, the game only features Japanese voice acting in all countries, despite being based on a pre-established property with its own English dub by Funimation.
• Posthumous Credit: Despite dying of cancer three months before the game's release, Keiji Fujiwara recorded his lines as Toma/Mato months in advance.
• Release Date Change: The game was first announced to be released on March 19, 2020, but Koei Tecmo delayed it to June 25 for balancing and graphical improvements, and then again to July 30 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• What Could Have Been: This game is the result of Gust previously holding a poll asking players which anime property they would like to see in a future title. Fairy Tail won, just barely edging out Hunter × Hunter and One-Punch Man.
• Word of God: According to Koei Tecmo producer Keisuke Kikuchi, the reason the developers settled on adapting Fairy Tail from the middle of its story is so players would get to play as more of the series' many, many characters from the get go, and so they can experience building the Fairy Tail guild from the ground up for themselves.
