Trivia / El Caso

  • Acclaimed Flop: The series was loved by critics, but tanked in the ratings battle. It's not like TVE helped matters much, either (see Screwed by the Network entry below).
  • The Danza: Antonio Camacho is played by Antonio Garrido.
  • Defictionalization: While the series was running, journalists Juan Rada and Joaquín Abad revived the real-life El Caso in April 2016 after 19 years.
  • Descended Creator / Written by Cast Member: Series creator and writer Fernando Guillén Cuervo plays the lead male character of the show in Jesús Expósito. Justified since he actually is a professional actor.
  • Fan Community Nickname: "Casistas".
  • Screwed by the Network: Whether intentional or not, TVE's programming strategy with the show was baffling to say the least. The series premiered shortly before the Easter holidays — a sure-fire way to lose viewers on the second episode —, the same night that a UEFA Champions League match that could (and did) go to overtime was played, and TVE stubbornly kept it on its Tuesday night slot despite relatively low ratings and strong competition from AllĂ abajo and La que se avecina. It eventually was cancelled two weeks after the end of its only season.
    • Some reports point to the series being screwed on purpose, as some right-wing TVE execs felt uncomfortable with the series being set in the Francoist Spain.
