Trivia / Einstürzende Neubauten

• Awesome, Dear Boy: Blixa's motivation for starring in Dandy. The film was originally going to be a short film featuring Blixa writhing around naked (footage of which appears in the full-length feature); when Peter Sempel wanted to extend it, Blixa insisted on getting paid... but initially only proposed a 1,000DM fee, which was much lower than Peter's initial offer of 10,000DM.^note The two eventually agreed on 5,000 DM.
• Creator Backlash: Blixa hated everything about Andi (aside from the paycheque, which allowed him to pay rent and utilities) from the outset and has not said a kind thing about it since.
• Money, Dear Boy: Neubauten's motivation for any number of projects, from the play Andi, the concert series/live album Lament, to other commissioned works. When this trope is in effect, the band are pretty open about it.
• No Export for You: In 2022, Tabula Rasa and Strategies Against Architecture III disappeared from streaming services in Europe and New Zealand. No reason has been given for the removals.
• Promoted Fanboy:
  • Erin Zhu, Neubauten's manager and web administrator and Blixa's wife, was a fan of the band before meeting them.
  • The book included in the limited-edition Alles in Allem boxset contains essays written by fans/Patreon backers of the band.
  • In an inversion, Nick Cave was a huge fan of Neubauten (and Blixa specifically) before getting Blixa involved with The Birthday Party and, later, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
• Referenced by...: In the factory mission in Sniper Elite 5, if you scan one of the engineers, you get the note "Ernst Neubauten: Posted to this factory for so long that the noise in it is starting to sound like a new kind of 'music' to him."
  • Liars' single for "There's Always Room On The Broom" parodies the Einstürzende Neubauten logo - a witch hat and broom are crudely added to the trademark stick figure-like Meso-American symbol, and "Einstürzende Neubauten" is crossed out with "Liars" written underneath.
• Romance on the Set: Inverted: Erin got involved with Neubauten only after she and Blixa started dating.
