The Cast Showoff: The post-credit dance number came about specifically because the two leads had big profile roles in Moulin Rouge! and Chicago.
Fake American: Ewan McGregor when playing Catcher's alter ego Zip Martin. Subverted otherwise as he keeps his natural Scottish accent as Catcher.
Fake Brit: Jeri Ryan as the English flight attendant Gwendolyn.
Irony as She Is Cast: Vikki and Peter are played by two queer actors (although strictly speaking, neither of them were out publicly at the time of the movie's release), with many knowing in-jokes about Peter not being gay even though Vikki thinks he just might be.
Wag the Director: The song and dance during the credits came about because Ewan McGregor pointed out that he and Renée Zellweger had recently starred in two blockbuster musicals and it would be a wasted opportunity for them not to show off their chops.

Actor Allusion: Yu Ping casually asks Yang Guo if she's ever seen Meteor Garden. The lead character of that series was Jerry Yan's (who plays Yu Ping) breakout rule. Her response? "I saw the Korean version and loved Goo Jun Pyo" (played by Korean actor Lee Min Ho).
