Trivia / Defeated Sanity

  • Creative Differences:
    • This was why Kevin Heiderich was never going to become a full-fledged member even if he had been able to stay. He was great as a live session member, but his musical preferences were vastly different from those of the rest of the band (he was way more into deathcore and djent), and he was also highly opinionated and stubborn. By the band's own admission, Kevin was fine with being a hired gun, and by Kevin's own admission, his skillset lies in playing other people's material, not creating his own.
    • Also why Christian Kuhn left; as per Lille, they had different styles and wanted different things from the band. They are still on good terms and Christian allowed Lille to keep his contributions to The Sanguinary Impetus - he just found himself butting heads with Lille far too much for his liking.
  • Creator Backlash: Lille Gruber has specifically singled out "The Purging", "Tortured Existence", "Lusting for Transcendence", and "The Parasite" as his least favorite songs in their catalog; while he's made it clear that he doesn't actually hate them at all, he feels that all of them have glaring flaws in their writing that manifested once they were recorded.
  • Creator's Oddball: Disposal of the Dead/Dharmata was billed as this by the band before it was even recorded, as Lille Gruber was very clear that it was a one-off experiment that was not going to be a permanent change in sound. While he has continued to write songs in the style of Dharmata that he fully intends to do something with, he has told people who have asked that he will likely do it under a different mantle rather than releasing it under the Defeated Sanity name.
