  • Follow-Up Failure:
    • "Wagon Wheel" was followed by "Radio" and then by "Miss You", his only single to miss the Top 40 entirely.
    • "Homegrown Honey" was a huge #2 hit, but followup "Southern Style" withered at #33.
    • The #1 hits "If I Told You" and "For the First Time" were followed by his cover of "Straight to Hell" which, despite having guest vocals from Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, and Charles Kelley, stalled at #40.
  • Missing Episode:
    • During the release of Back to Then, he had another R&B album lined up titled The Return of Mongo Slade, but it was never released.
    • A charity song for the Professional Golf Assocation titled "Together, Anything's Possible", was only ever issued as a standalone digital single.
