Trivia / Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter

Go To

  • Bonus Material: The comic includes a pretty thorough story of the making of the original film plus some storyboards as bonus material.
  • Cast the Expert: Fight choreographer William Hobbs plays Hagen.
  • Contractual Obligation Project: This was the second of two films that Caroline Munro made to fill out her contract with Hammer, the other being Dracula A.D. 1972.
  • Creator Killer: The failure of the movie tanked Brian Clemen's career in films. He remained mostly on television for the remainder of his career.
  • Screwed by the Network: Clemens and others who worked on the film observed the film had practically 0 promotion and was released with an inexplicable two-year delay. Clemens speculated it might have been due to either tax reasons (Hammer was already on its way to bankruptcy during the mid-'70s) or simply lack of faith in the movie, but one way or another, it is probably the main reason for its failure.
  • Sequel in Another Medium: While Captain Kronos sadly never got any film sequels, there was a comic book one in 2017-2018.
  • The Shelf of Movie Languishment: This was filmed in 1972 but was not released until 1974.
  • Stillborn Franchise: If the film hadn't been a financial disappointment, there were plans to do sequels with Kronos traveling the world (and even through time) to fight evil. Director Brian Clemens, in his DVD commentary, said that if that had worked out, he probably would've had to change the character's name to "Captain Buffy". Though it did get a sort of sequel with a four-issue comic book series in 2017-2018.
  • Uncredited Role: Julian Holloway as the voice of Captain Kronos.
  • What Could Have Been: Ingrid Pitt turned down the role of Lady Durward.
