• Deleted Scene: One of Spike's lines were cut due to length:
  Spike: You're a bleeding idiot, you are, Jonathan. 'Cuz you'll be the first victim and you'll be stone dead before you hit the ground. [proudly to himself] The worst kind of scum.
• Non-Singing Voice: Jonathan's performance of "Serenade in Blue" is actually sung by Brad Kane, who had previously appeared in "The Prom" as Tucker Wells and provided the singing voice for Aladdin.
• Throw It In!: As it was raining buckets in Los Angeles at the time, the coffee scene was filmed inside the Expresso Pump (extras can be seen holding umbrellas out on the street), and Karen's encounter with the demon takes place in the pouring rain.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Jonathan throws a stake at Buffy and she catches it, when they’re in Giles’s apartment. Originally, Buffy was to fumble with the catch and drop the stake - to highlight how much of an effect Jonathan’s spell had on her, but that scene was changed during editing, for some reason.
  • According to Jane Espenson’s DVD Commentary, Buffy was supposed to say "I'm just kidding!" over the credits at the end of the episode (given that the episode ends with her saying "Jonathan" after she and Riley kiss). Espenson probably wrote the line in the script but it was cut later and she didn’t realize it.
