Trivia / Brotherly Love (1995)

Go To

  • Actor Allusion: Several references are made during the series to Joey Lawrence's previous series Blossom.
    • "Paging Nell" also indirectly references Lawrence's first sitcom role in Gimme a Break!, with the episode reuniting him with that show's star Nell Carter.
    • In "Lord of the Guys" While helping around the house, Joey tells Matt "Get back to work, Mrs. Doubtfire." Matt Lawrence played Robin Williams' son in Mrs. Doubtfire.
  • The Cast Showoff: Matt sings "Silent Night" passably in "A Roman Holiday".
  • Channel Hop: The show spent its first season on NBC, and moved to The WB for its second and last season.
    • Somewhat strangely, the show also switched production company banners— for the first season, like other Witt-Thomas(-Harris) shows it was under Touchstone Television, but for season two it switched to the Walt Disney Television banner.
  • The Danza: Joey, Matthew and Andrew Lawrence played Joe, Matt and Andy Roman. It counts even though Joe was never referred to by his real-world nickname in-series, and Matt and Andy were only called by their full names by Claire whenever given a Full-Name Ultimatum.
  • Directed by Cast Member: Joey Lawrence directed several episodes in Season 2.
  • "Do It Yourself" Theme Tune: Joey Lawrence performed and co-wrote the show's theme song, "No Matter Where You Are".
  • Ending Theme: The first season used a loopy, kazoo-laden ending theme in a tune similar to the opening theme. Once the show moved to The WB in season two, that theme was replaced with a rock-driven tune structured similarly to Home Improvement's "Iron John's Rock" theme.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Brotherly Love has not been seen in syndication since c. 2002, when it last aired on Disney Channel in the U.S. (and some international countries) and Family Channel in Canada.
  • Real-Life Relative: Works both on-screen and off. There's the obvious, since full-blood brothers Joey, Matthew and Andrew Lawrence played half-brothers Joe, Matt and Andy Roman. In addition, the trio's parents, Donna and Joe Sr., served as co-producers on the show during both seasons.
