- Copiously Credited Creator: Bud Luckey plays every speaking role (narrator, lamb, jackalope) along with writing, co-directing, composing the music and playing the banjo for the short.
- Production Posse: The music was arranged and produced by Joey Miskulin aka "Joey the CowPolka King" from Riders in the Sky, who sang "Woody's Roundup" for Toy Story 2 and wrote the music for For the Birds.
- Prop Recycling: As revealed by Bud Luckey himself in the commentary, some of the fish seen in the stream are recolored models of Gurgle from Finding Nemo, the arm that grabs the lamb belongs to Dr. Philip Sherman, also from Finding Nemo, and the car that comes to pick the lamb up is the model for Stanley Steamer from Cars.
- What Could Have Been: Brad Bird originally wanted Agent Rick Dicker to be the one telling the story- there'd be a scene at the beginning with him picking up a banjo and beginning to play the music.
- Write What You Know: The opening shot is of Luckey's favorite bird, the meadowlark. To research for the shirt, Luckey and the animators took tap dancing classes and rode on merry-go-rounds.
