- Newbie Boom: The Sleeping King was released first on Steam, where it didn't sell well at all. Things changed, however, when developer Castle Pixel ported the game over to the Nintendo Switch. Whether this was due to a difference in audience, or the fact that the Switch eShop was much smaller and more curated than Steam was at the time, The Sleeping King proceeded to outsell its Steam counterpart by a factor of five, which allowed Castle Pixel to avoid closing and continue operations. Likely to avoid future issues with Steam, the sequel would be announced for a Switch release from the start.
