Trivia / Blackadder S 2 E 3 Potato

• Acting for Two: The little girl who is heard outside chanting insults at Blackadder, is voiced by Miranda Richardson.
• Creator Backlash: Despite this being probably Tom Baker's best-known role apart from the Fourth Doctor and perhaps the narrator of Little Britain, he was so embarrassed by his performance that he felt he should have had his Equity card revoked. That said, he doesn't mind getting repeat fees.
• Hostility on the Set: Tom Baker said that this was "a pretty miserable experience" because he became annoyed by the "highly opinionated" Rowan Atkinson telling him how to do it. Atkinson wanted Baker to play Captain Rum as a crashing bore and underplay it instead of the more extravagant performance he had given in rehearsals. Baker took his advice and delivered a different performance for the technical run in the afternoon of the recording. However, the producer and director were horrified by this different interpretation, thinking he was ill^note a genuine dip in his physical and mental health had previously informed his relatively sedate performances in Season 18 of Doctor Who, and told him to go back to playing it the way it was rehearsed. Baker said Atkinson never spoke to him again and he skipped the party after the show to avoid being snubbed by Atkinson.
