• Money, Dear Boy: Lamberto Maggiorani agreed to star in the movie for 600,000 lire since he and his family were poor at the time. He spent his paycheck on new furniture and treated his family to a vacation.
• Role-Ending Misdemeanor: Believe it or not for Lamberto. After the film's release the factory he worked at decided to lay him off since business was slacking and management believed it was more fair to sack someone they thought had gotten rich from a movie then to lay off multiple people who were broke.
