- Actor-Shared Background: Like Madeleine Stowe (who's part Costa Rican), Cody is a Latina (her last name being Zamora and she speaks in Spanish to Mexican bandits during the film). This may be the only film Stowe played a Latina in.
- Box Office Bomb: Budget, $25-35 million. Gross, $15,240,435.
- Creator Backlash: Drew Barrymore described the production as "the pits", while Madeleine Stowe later called it "a terrible, terrible movie... There's really nothing I can say about the experience that is positive, except that it brought me to Texas."
- Executive Meddling: The film began with Tamra Davis directing, but after a few days of shooting, she was replaced by Jonathan Kaplan. The script and all footage shot were scrapped, and a completely new script was written, with new characters and a new plot. Nothing remained of the original project but some (not all) of the leading actresses. Two weeks later, filming resumed.
