- Bendis initially conceived this story for Ultimate Fantastic Four, but the editors thought that it was better suited as an Avengers story, so he wrote it for that team instead.
- The initial outline for the story includes a few differences from the final product. Among them, Thor was going to show up and stop the rampaging She-Hulk, only to quickly return to Asgard due to the events of the "Ragnarok" storyline in his own book. The story was also going to end with a more blatant lead in to the New Avengers relaunch, with Cap approaching Tony after the Avengers disband, claiming he has an idea for a new group.
