  • Colbert Bump: The BeamNG collaboration was likely the best thing to happen to the game business-wise, given the former game's existing player base.
  • Development Hell: The game's first demo was released in April 2012. It's now 2024 and the game is still in Early Access, having switched to an entirely new engine in the process. Downplayed in that progress has been constant and steady, even if slow, and justified in that the dev team can literally be counted with one's fingers.
  • Extremely Lengthy Creation: Dating back to at least August 2011, the game has seen a number of UI and design environment changes, multiple new car and engine design features, reworks of the systems underpinning multiple game mechanics, and an entire game engine change. Justified, as it's an extremely large and complex game being developed by a team of about half-a-dozen people.
  • He Also Did: The Cyclist: Tactics, a Turn-Based Strategy game themed around pro cycling.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: Several mods, including the Toyota Corolla E90, Skoda Karoq, and "patchwork" pieces, have since been incorporated into the vanilla game. In a few cases, mod creators have been commissioned for vanilla content (see below).
  • Promoted Fanboy:
    • The creator of the "PlaceBLOWERS" mod was hired as a vehicle artist, and has since made a handful of vanilla car bodies (each with quite a few variants) and plenty of vanilla fixtures.
    • Likewise, the creators of such mod bodies as the Scania PRT, Suzuki Cappuccino, Porsche 917, Audi R8, and Daihatsu Midget II have also made plenty of vanilla bodies.
  • Technology Marches On:
    • Up until December 2022, turbo tech was stuck in The '80s, and ECUs weren't capable of dynamic air-fuel ratios or ignition timing.
    • Hybrid and electric powertrains are also unaccounted for, as are (for the time being) superchargers.
