• Genre-Killer: The failure of this movie and others like it, coupled with the rising popularity of multimillion dollar franchise movies and the 2008 recession, set off a domino effect which lead to Hollywood abandoning "small," seven-figure-budget films by the end of the 2000s in favor of mega-blockbuster event movies. Terry Zwigoff claimed that his refusal to comply with this trend is why he simply stopped directing movies altogether after this.
