• California Doubling: Most of the series was filmed in Romania or South Africa. Neither country was visited by Fogg on screen.
• Development Hell: Season 2 was announced in November 2021, but there has been no further information about it since.
• Fake American: Most of the American characters in Episode 7, including Bass Reeves, are played by British actors.
• Fake Brit:
  • The Scottish David Tennant once again puts on an English accent as Phileas Fogg.
  • The German Leonie Benesch plays the very English Abigail Fix. ZDF wanted a German in the cast as a condition of their funding the production and Benesch, in any event, studied acting in London.
• International Coproduction: Commissioned by the European Alliance, a co-production alliance of France Télévisions, ZDF (Germany), and Rai (Italy), with additional co-production partners from PBS and RTBF (Belgium).
