• Life Imitates Art: The film is eerily similar to the 1986 comedy Gung Ho, about a Japanese car manufacturer that re-opens a plant in a Rust Belt American town in desperate need of jobs, only for the American laborers to chafe under the harsher working conditions set down by the foreign management. The difference is that the real factory is Chinese and there's no happy ending where everyone reaches an mutually beneficial understanding.
• Vaporware: In January 2020, it was announced that this movie along with three other Netflix films (The Irishman, Marriage Story and Atlantics) would receive home video releases as part of The Criterion Collection. While the former two were given spine numbers, this and Atlantics still haven't as of April 2021.
