Trivia Tropes:
- Fake American: Australian Ed Oxenbould playing the title character in the film version, with an American cast.
- Making Use of the Twin: Elise and Zoey Vargas share the role of Baby Trevor in the film.
- What Could Have Been: The film was originally going to be made by 20th Century Fox, but Fox was "uncomfortable with the budget", so Disney ended up picking it up.
- Write Who You Know: In the original book, Alexander and his two brothers Anthony and Nick are based on and named after author Judith Viorst's own three sons. Viorst was inspired to write the book by the various mishaps that the feisty yet klutzy young Alexander was prone to.
General Trivia:
- This is actually the fourth adaptation of the Judith Viorst picture book, after a HBO Storybook Musicals Animated Adaptation by Klasky-Csupo made for HBO in 1990 and two live-action short versions, one made in 1988 and one in 1997. These earlier versions are all more faithful to the picture book.
