* The Other Darrin

* TheOtherDarrin:
** Played straight with Zack Shada. Zack hit puberty and he couldn't get his voice to sound like Finn's anymore, so when the show went from being a Nickelodeon pilot to a Cartoon Network series, the voice director got Jeremy Shada (Zack's younger brother). Now averted with Jeremy, as rather than get rid of him because of his voice changing, the writers incorporated Jeremy's vocal change to Finn's by periodically aging him (by the series finale, he's 17).
** Princess Bubblegum is played by Paige Moss in the pilot and Creator/HyndenWalch in the series.
** Ice King was played by John Kassir (The Cryptkeeper, Deadpool, the replacement voice for Buster Bunny when Creator/CharlieAdler left) in the pilot. In the series, Creator/TomKenny plays the Ice King.
** In the pilot, Lady Rainicorn was voiced by Creator/DeeBradleyBaker and spoke nonsense. In the show, her voice actress is Niki Yang (the same Niki Yang who plays BMO) and the nonsense was replaced with fluent Korean.
** Tiffany was voiced by Vincenzo Rauzo in his first appearance in "My Two Favorite People". He has been voiced by Collin Dean in the character's subsequent appearences.
** Ghost Princess is played by Pen in "Loyalty to the King" and Maria Bamford in "Ghost Princess".
** In the video game, Marceline is played by Jessie Seely instead of Creator/OliviaOlson. Granted, the difference is barely noticeable.
** In "Davey", to make his disguise more authentic, Finn changes his vocal chords to a more adult tone of Davey Johnson.
** In his first appearance, the Cosmic Owl has a feminine-sounding voice provided by Finn's actor, Jeremy Shada. In his next speaking role, M. Emmet Walsh took over the role and gave him a much more masculine, older-sounding voice.
** John [=DiMaggio=] voiced Jake's brother Jermaine in "Crystals Have Power", but in "Jermaine" he's voiced by Tom Scharpling of WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse.
** Huntress Wizard is voiced by Maria Bamford in "Reign of Gunters", but in "Flute Spell", she's voiced by Creator/JennySlate, fresh out of WesternAnimation/Zootopia.
** In "Five Short Tables", Prince Gumball is voiced by Creator/KeithFerguson instead of Creator/NeilPatrickHarris, as the latter was likely too busy at the time.
** Creator/MelissaVillasenor briefly takes over voicing Slime Princess in "Elementals" in place of Maria Bamford.
** Felicia Day replaced Lena Dunham as for the Elements mini-series.
** In a voice director variant, Keythe Farley was originally the voice director for the first half of season 1. He would be replaced by Collette Sunderman for the remainder of season 1 and all of seasons 2-4 until she herself was replaced by Kent Osborne as voice director from season 5 until the end of the series.

** Twelve-year-old Finn is voiced by Creator/JeremyShada, who was 13 when recording first began. Time passes over the show's history, so Finn's voice deepened with his voice actor's... until a certain point, since Finn definitely does not sound anything like Lance at this point.
** Goliad is voiced by Wendy Linehan, an actual young child. Stormo is also voiced by Henry Linehan (the brother of Wendy Linehan, Golliad's VA).
** Sweet Pea is also voiced by a young child (Ethan Maher who was around 7 when he started voicing him).
** The younger version of Princess Bubblegum is voiced by Isabella Acres (who was 10 years old at the time) and the younger version of Marceline is voiced by Isabella Acres' younger sister, Ava Acres (who was 7 years old at the time).

** For a short time at the beginning of Season 3, Frederator made weekly Adventure Time recaps called "Mathematical" for each episode that would also include themed caller segments. Then, the recap for the episode "What Was Missing" referenced the Marceline/Bubblegum pairing and asked for feedback, causing an explosion from some fans (from ShippingWars, to general homophobia, to shippers calling one of the show's writers a homophobe because he didn't like the recap, etc.), to the point where the Mathematical channel was deleted from YouTube, along with all the recaps, and Fred Seibert himself posted an apology for all the craziness. The controversy died down in later seasons, when WordOfGay finally confirmed that the duo at least used to be an item.

** The uproar that happened over the Ship Teasing in "What Was Missing" caused "Mathematical!" to stop producing recaps.

** Pendleton has expressed some regret for the sexist undertones of the episode "Wizard Battle", with Princess Bubblegum being treated as a literal trophy and, he now feels, the script not doing enough to criticize Finn's proprietary attitude towards her.
** Jesse Moynihan absolutely hated how "Betty" came out, since it was originally planned to be an half-hour episode before being reworked into a 11-minute episode, with most of the scenes planned for the episode, including a scene focused on Huntress Wizard (Jesse's favorite character), being cut for time.

** Ever since "What Was Missing" the idea that Marceline and Bubblegum used to date swiftly became a fixture in the fandom. After years of the staff refusing to comment, Olivia Olson, Marceline's voice actress, confirmed that this was the case. Not QUITE canonical, but WordOfSaintPaul anyway. As of the finale, them being a couple has been officially canonized.

Fiona and cake is now a part of the official adventure time universe so moving it to lying creator.

** For years the creators declared that Fiona and cake would never be integrated into the main adventure time continuity, only for their spinoff series to do so.

** The staff loves to remind the fans that Fionna and Cake and related characters will never be part of the main AT universe. Hasn't stopped fanfiction writers, though.
