Distant Past (100, 000 years ago)
  • The Forerunners go on their "Great Journey" to become gods. They actually used the Halo Arrays to destroy most sentient life in the galaxy in a desperate bid to stop the Flood from consuming everything. As the Forerunners perished to save the galaxy, the collected specimens of every species stored in the arrays are released to restart civilization across the cosmos. Meanwhile an ancient humanity is beginning to rebuild their civilization after being devolved by the Forerunners as punishment.
  • On Remnant, a woman named Salem who became immortal as punishment for trying to trick one of the brother gods into resurrecting her dead lover Ozma, stages a rebellion against them. Resulting in the Brother Gods destroying all life on Remnant and shattering its moon in the process.
  • As time pass, Salem wanders the barren Remnant with only Grimm left behind. Trying to end her misery, she lets herself fall into the Grimm pools to try and die, but instead mutates into the Grimm Queen and can now control the monsters.
  • After several centuries, The Brother Gods return to Remnant and restore life on Remnant and leave the planet to its own devices. But not before resurrecting Ozma and give his mission to unite all of mankind. Granting him the ability to reincarnate to do so, and creating the four relics to bring together once he has united mankind. The Brother gods tell him if they are summoned and see he has succeeded, they will live peacefully with mankind once more; but if not, they will destroy humanity once and for all.
  • Ozma reunites with her lover and for a while become a family and have several daughters as they reign as gods over humanity. Unfortunately this peace doesn’t last as Ozma becomes concerned by Salem’s power hungry and downright tyrannical ideal’s for humanity, and fears the woman he loved is no more. Ozma takes his daughters in the middle of the night to avoid becoming corrupted by their mother’s influence, but Salem catches on and in the wake of her fury kills her daughters and Ozma. Ozma reincarnates into another vessel and the millenia’s long war between these immortals soon begins.
  • An incarnation of Ozma known as The Infinite Man forms a group called The Circle, which would travel the land assisting those in peril in order to unite Humanity. It is eventually destroyed by a group of warriors testing whether the Infinite Man was truly immortal. The only survivor is his most devoted follower, who turns her back on him. Later on, Ozma uses the Relic of Knowledge and unfortunately learns that he cannot destroy Salem.
    Ancient History
  • Ozma gives up much of his "magic" to create the four Maidens who can control the elements to powerful degrees.
  • A brotherhood is later founded in order to protect the Maidens and the people of the world. The Maidens are forced to go into hiding and over thousands of years of passing their powers to their next vessels, fade into myth and legend.
  • The San'Shyuum convert the Sangheili to their theocratic beliefs and together form the Covenant, whose religious mission is to collect all the Forerunner relics to try and follow them on the Great Journey. Over time they discover other species and forcefully add them to the Covenant, such as the Unggoy’s, Huragok, Yanme’s, and the Kig-Yar. Though the latter are mostly indoctrinated, a quarter of their race continue as independent privateers to be hired by the Covenant from time to time.
  • The Sangheili eventually faces a brutal war in indoctrinating the Mgalekgolo into the Covenant, but eventually managed to make them submit and join the alien theocracy and are given highly advanced armored exoskeletons to suit the alien worms hive mind biology.

     Early Modern History
  • In the mid-22nd century, humanity in the Sol System wages the brutal Interplanetary War between the democratic United Nations, the neo-fascist Friedens, and neo-communist Koslovics, a conflict that the United Nations ultimately emerges victorious. After the war, the United Nations reorganizes into the United Earth Government, with the United Nations Space Command becoming the military, exploratory, and scientific branch of the UEG.
  • In the late 23rd century, Doctors Tobias Fleming Shaw and Wallace Fujikawa invent the Shaw-Fujikawa Translight Engine, otherwise known as the Slipspace Drive. This enables faster than light travel, kicking the Domus Diaspora where humanity begins sending out extrasolar colony ships to settle new worlds, easing the pressure on an overpopulated Earth. To oversee these extrasolar colonies, the Colonial Administration Authority (CAA) is established while the Colonial Military Authority (CMA) polices them. The first wave of ships become the Inner Colonies, forming the industrial heart of human civilization, with Reach becoming humanity's first extrasolar colony. The second, far less restricted wave become the Outer Colonies, who provide the Inner Colonies with raw materials.
  • Unfortunately due to the experimental nature of the Slipspace drives it soon becomes dangerous to utilize FTL travel as several colony ships are lost or outright destroyed due to Slipspace drive malfunctions. Thus causing several colonies to be lost to the UEG, and only after a several more decades does the Slipspace drive become more refined and pose less risk to utilize.
  • On Remnant, a border skirmish between the kingdoms of Vale and Mistral erupts into a global conflict known as the Great War, which wages for ten years between the alliance of Mantle and Mistral against Vale and Vacuo. After a decade a fighting, the Battle of Vacuo ends with a Vale victory after the King of Vale enters the field directly, terrifying all three other kingdoms (even his ally, Vacuo) into surrendering to him. Rather than take this opportunity to rule the world, the King of Vale has all the monarchies of the world abolished and replaced with elected democracies. The kingdoms demilitarize, with the exception of Mantle which renames itself to Atlas following Atlas Academy's ascension into the sky after Ozpin uses the relic of creation to make the newly christened Atlas into a floating metropolis, and the Huntsmen are established to defend Remnant's people, regardless of borders, from the Grimm’s onslaughts.
  • Following the Great War, the Schnee Dust Company is founded by Nicholas Schnee and becomes Remnant’s first major Dust mining company. Eventually companies such as the Schnee Dust Company and Mistral Trading Company take interest in Vacuo's Dust supply, draining it and depleting its resources; but allowing the production of Dust to skyrocket and as a result; begins the industrialization of Remnant’s society’s.
  • Unfortunately due to the rapid rise and growth in technology, the Kingdom of Mantle eventually ceases to exist and is replaced with the Kingdom of Atlas. Resulting in a great societal, political and economical divide between Mantle and Atlas, as resources and wealth pool mostly to Atlas, leaving Mantle and its remaining denizens with the scraps as the former capital becomes poverty stricken, while the floating city of Atlas prospers.
  • The faunus, as a result of the Great War, are given the continent of Menagerie to call their own home. Many of the kingdoms, however, attempt to forcibly move all of their faunus population into Menagerie despite the equal rights they had supposedly won during the Great War. But unfortunately it is evident prejudice and discrimination against the Faunus still exists. This sparks the Faunus Rights Rebellion, which ends in a faunus victory and a global acknowledgement that humans and faunus are equals. Tensions continue to exist, however, prompting the creation of the White Fang civil rights group. Over time, frustrations over the slow progress the movement is making towards faunus equal rights, members of the White Fang begin to radicalize and preach a more overtly violent approach, spearheaded by the White Fang's second in command, Sienna Khan, against the wishes of its pacifistic leader, Ghira Belladonna. Leading to the two leaders to being often at odds with each other over whose ideals are right or not.
  • It is discovered by the SDC during an experiment that Dust does not function off-planet. Thus leaving any spacefaring projects on hold indefinitely.
  • Unfortunately for the UEG and UNSC, due to a combination of CMA bureaucracy and corruption, slow travel and communication times between disparate colonies, and the economical imbalance and unfair treatment of the Outer Colonies compared to the Inner Colonies, a massive Insurrection breaks out that lasts several long and bloody years. The harsh conflict only escalated as time passed and forced the UNSC to take drastic measures to stop the rebels while preserving their hold on power and preventing a new dark age for humanity.
  • In a bid to extinguish the Insurrection, ONI enlists the help of Doctor Elizabeth Halsey to begin the SPARTAN super soldier program by conscripting several children and replacing them with clones that die in a few years. After years of intensive training, education, and indoctrination, the SPARTAN-I Is are surgically and genetically augmented, but due to the immense strain of the procedure, leaves many of them killed or crippled. Those who survive become the first generation of SPARTA Ns, the most famous among them being John-117, AKA the Master Chief.
  • Later on, the Jiralhanae become the latest species to join the Covenant, yet soon after, an intense and bitter rivalry forms between them and the Sangheili, as the former deems them as honor bound fools and the latter thinking they are nothing but savage brutes. Yet the Brutes begin to jockeying for the position as military leaders of the Covenant and replace the Sangheili.
  • Shortly after the Spartans were able to be deployed against the Insurrectionists, several sightings of “aliens" begin to emerge, until humanity finally encounters the Covenant on the Outer Colony world of Harvest. Contact is shortly lost, and a CMA battlegroup sent to investigate only returns with a single survivor, reporting that Harvest had been glassed by the alien Covenant, starting the Human-Covenant War.
  • As contact between humanity and the Covenant sours on Harvest, a trio of San'Shyuum attempting a power play discover and communicate with the "Oracle" inside the Anodyne Spirit, a Forerunner Dreadnaught that forms the heart of High Charity. This "Oracle" is actually a fragment of the Forerunner ancilla Mendicant Bias, who informs them that, due to a mistranslation, what the Covenant thought was "Reclamation" was actually "Reclaimer" and referred exclusively to humanity. Realizing that this revelation threatened to throw into question the entire Great Journey the Covenant was centered around, and more importantly their own designs on power, the newly ascended Prophets of Truth, Mercy, and Regret declare humanity's existence to be an affront to the gods and call for their extermination.
  • On Remnant, Jacques Schnee inherits the Schnee Dust Company following Nicolas' failing health. Under his leadership, the SDC begins to participate in morally questionable business and labor practices such as monopolization, buying out and annexing every other Dust company on Remnant, resulting in many layoffs and people out of a job, and rumors of abusing Faunus workers. Thus inciting the more violent elements of The White Fang. Yet despite the controversy of these radical and predatory changes to the SDC, the four kingdoms are quite pleased by production of Dust skyrocketing thanks to the SDC becoming the sole major Dust Company on Remnant and don’t interfere with Jacques’s ways.
  • Eventually the Councils approve of building a city within Mountain Glenn, an expansion project to the southeast of Vale, that is soon founded. The kingdom developed an elaborate underground metro system that allowed the settlers to commute to and from the main kingdom and the new territory, thus bypassing the danger of the Grimm, while also setting up an aggressive perimeter defense that worked for a short period of time, keeping the thousands of the city's residents safe in their new home.
  • However, Mountain Glenn did not boast the natural barriers Vale did, and as such Grimm attacks began to increase every day until inevitably they overwhelmed the city's defenses. These ever increasing attacks were partly due to the actions of Merlot Industries which worked to attract more Grimm for the purpose of capturing them and experimenting on Grimm subjects. In a last-ditch effort to stave off destruction, the citizens of Mountain Glenn took refuge in the tunnels they had initially cleared for their subways, converting them into an underground settlement and cutting themselves off from the surface entirely. Unfortunately, this supposed safe haven was eventually compromised when an explosion opened the mouth of another cavern filled with subterranean Grimm. This left the town completely exposed and the remaining citizens beyond saving. With no other recourse, Vale sealed off the tunnels permanently, creating the world's largest tomb. The ruins of Mountain Glenn now stand as a reminder for history to reflect upon and the mistakes that were tragically made.
  • From 2525 to 2540, humanity fights a losing war against the Covenant, whose numerical and technological supremacy outweigh anything humanity is able to throw at them. In space, it takes a three-to-one advantage for the UNSC Navy to eek a Pyrrhic victory. On the ground, knowledge of the terrain as well as clever use of tactics give human forces a better edge but usually not enough to hold back the Covenant completely. Billions are killed on both sides as the Covenant go from world to world, burning each one from orbit in a process dubbed "glassing." Only the SPARTA Ns prove themselves to be humanity's most effective weapons, with the Covenant dubbing them "demons" as a result of their near supernatural combat prowess. But, sadly, there are only thirty of them in total, and Halsey’s methods are deemed too inhuman to recreate any more Spartan II’s.
  • Recognizing that the best way to prevent the Covenant from destroying humanity is to make it harder for them to find human worlds, Admiral Preston Cole establishes the Cole Protocol, which dictates that any and all navigation data that could lead to human worlds is to be purged rather than let it fall into Covenant hands. Random slipspace jumps are also mandatory whenever a Covenant presence is detected or suspected in system. As a result of the Cole Protocol, the Covenant war machine slows down tremendously.
  • After initially believing the Covenant were only at war with the UNSC only to realize the Covenant were seeking to destroy all of humanity after the Insurrectionist’s disastrous attempts to form an alliance with the aliens, the Insurrection mostly dies down as the true threat of the Covenant makes itself clear. Most either go underground or bite their tongues and enlist with the UNSC to defend humanity against the aliens, leaving only the most radical minority to continue the Insurrection, hampering the war effort against the Covenant.
  • Recognizing the need for more Spartans as well as wanting to one up Doctor Halsey while honoring the memory of his late sister Julia, a SPARTAN-II washout who died during augmentation, Colonel James Ackerson of the Office of Naval Intelligence ONI creates the SPARTAN-III program, a cheaper and more expendable alternative to the SPARTAN=IIs. Unlike the SPARTAN-IIs, the SPARTAN-IIIs] are recruited from children who were orphaned by the Covenant. Receiving better training courtesy of Kurt-051, a [=SPARTAN-II Ackerson had kidnapped and declared MIA, and receiving superior chemical-based augmentations, the IIIs are equipped with cheaper Semi-Powered Infiltration (SPI) armor and sent on high risk but high priority suicide missions against Covenant targets. The first batch of SPARTAN-IIIs, Alpha Company, are completely wiped-out following Operation: PROMETHEUS, and Beta Company is begun shortly afterwards.

First Contact arc

Nov. 15th, 2540 CE / 69 A.G.W.

  • Following a pyrrhic UNSC victory against the Covenant on the planet Bejing III, the UNSC Everest, commanded by Admiral Preston J. Cole, embarks on a random slipspace jump in accordance with Cole Protocol.

Nov. 28th, 2540 CE / 69 A.G.W.

  • Upon arrival in real space, the Everest finds itself in the Oum System and the ship’s smart A.I Hannibal picks up radio signals from Remnant. Cole is then awakened from cryosleep to investigate the matter, and once filled in, Cole Suspecting either an Insurrectionist presence or a lost colony, orders to move closer to investigate the planet, allowing them to be noticed by the newly brought online Atlesian Weltraum Observatory as General Ironwood visits the site. The Kingdoms of Remnant are soon alerted to the alien presence hovering above them, and when detecting the alien radio frequencies sent to them, Admiral Cole soon realizes this is a first contact scenario. Yet as Cole struggles what to do next, the Everest remains unresponsive, causing the inhabitants to start panicking as the massive and war torn warship remains parked on the planet as everyone fears it could be the start of an alien invasion. Resulting in Grimm activity to skyrocket across the world.
  • The Everest eventually sends scouting parties consisting of ODSTs and SPARTAN-II Blue Team onto the planet surface, where they discover the monstrous Grimm and more shockingly the native humans and animal human hybrids known as "Faunus" that live on Remnant. A revelation that shocks the scouting parties and Everest as they try to understand how this is possible. But before long, they find more of the native humans being attacked by hordes of the Grimm in isolated settlements who were driven into a panic by the UNSC's ominous arrival. Meanwhile the two other teams are ambushed by Grimm roaming and barely survive as they escape. Most of the other teams choose to go against orders and intervene to protect human life or are otherwise engaged by the Grimm, resulting in a retreat and mass casualties.
  • Sergeant Graves, the lone survivor of the ODST team sent out to scout Solitas, only to become overwhelmed by a swarm of Grimm as they tried to escape, is recovered by Atlesian forces and nursed to health. Yet this is allows the people of Remnant to learn that the supposed “aliens” are human, and like the UNSC are quite shocked by this discovery and question how this is possible. But as they nurse Graves back to health, discover that he doesn’t possess any Aura nor could it be awakened by the doctors, nor could even Ozpin awaken it as well. Leading to Remnant to discover UNSC humans cannot awaken Aura despite having a soul.
  • Through Pietro and Watt’s analysis of Graves ODST armor learn while the human alien’s armor is advanced in many ways, their weaponry is rather crude and primitive compared to their own.

Nov. 29th - Dec. 15th, 2540 / 69 A.G.W.

  • Despite a language barrier and initial hostilities on both sides, Graves and Headmaster Ozpin are able to build a rapport with each other and establish contact with the Everest. A translation package is made by Graves and Hannibal, allowing both sides to finally communicate with each other.
  • Shortly after, the Everest reestablishes contact with the UNSC and explain what has occurred. The kingdom’s councils after much debating decide to have the First Contact Summit conducted on the island of Vytal with Amity Colosseum serving as the venue given it is neutral grounds.

Dec. 18th, 2540 CE / 69 A.G.W.

  • UEG and Remnant delegates and security personnel arrive at Vytal for the First Contact Summit, with Sergeant Avery Johnson the leading non-commissioned officer on the ground. Among the UEG delegates is Dr. Catherine Halsey, who immediately suspects that there is more to Professor Ozpin than he is letting on. Through the summit, both sides learn about each other's basic history and culture, as well as the intention to begin preparing for what comes next for their respective civilizations. Though many of the Remnant kingdoms are more than a little cautious of how the UNSC is very militaristic society, yet that allows them to have a strong connection with Atlas given their own similarly militaristic culture.
  • However, Branwen Qrow, an agent for Ozpin overhears two UNSC soldiers discuss something related to the “Covenant". Leading to the ancient human to believe that is who the UNSC are fighting against given the damaged state of the Everest when they arrived here.
  • Security is breached by the Salem-aligned terrorists Haki Felt and Hazel Reinhart, the former of which sabotages a sensor tower and allows for a Grimm horde to attack the summit. The purpose of the attack being for Salem to test the waters and see what the UNSC is capable of. UNSC forces and Huntsmen quickly mobilize and work together to fend off the Grimm hordes, which exposes to the UNSC the existence of aura and semblances wielded by Remnantian huntsmen. Abilities that throw off Cole, Halsey and Hannibal who cannot understand nor grasp the existence of what amounts to basically magic; but already see a major opportunity before them. Yet this incident also shows the Remnantarian delegates and Huntsmen the capabilities of the UNSC troops and the ODST’s. Blue team meanwhile is deployed to eliminate the alpha Grimm, yet in secret, to avoid the Remnant delegation from catching wind on their super soldiers.
  • After dealing with the alpha Grimm and the UNSC recovering from the casualties brought on by the Grimm, Halsey clearly sees this was an intentional attack on this First Contact Summit and Blue Team after investigating the watchtower find out it was a rogue huntress, and one of Salem’s servants, Haki Felt who sabotaged it. Blue Team, led by Master Chief Petty Officer John-117, track down and attempt to apprehend Haki Felt. Yet due to being somewhat tired and their Mjolnr armor still damaged, and most importantly greatly underestimating her capabilities, Haki overwhelms them with ease through her weapon and semblance. They are forced to initially retreat while Fred-104 sustains a major injury, but once understanding what they are dealing with(and quite shocked by Haki’s time reversing semblance), a follow-up engagement turns in Blue Team’s favor through clever tactics and well executed attacks. Unfortunately Haki has a psychotic breakdown and starts going all out, forcing Master Chief to throw a frag grenade at the rogue Huntress, resulting in Haki's death, despite Blue Team’s hoping to capture her alive. But not without Haki giving a hint to her true leader. As Haki’s remains are secretly extracted by the UNSC and the Spartans are taken away for medical treatment, Qrow Branwen in his crow form had witnessed the second engagement, who reports the existence of top-secret super soldiers to Professor Ozpin and his peers. All of whom, are rather concerned to learn of these super soldier’s robotic demeanor and the fact the UNSC are keeping more secrets from them. But for the sake of first contact leave it be for now, and focus on future matters as the fate of Remnant is forever changed. Hazel Reinhart, however, manages to escape undetected and reports back to Salem, explaining to her the existence of the Covenant. While intrigued by this group, she plans to simply wait and observe the UNSC and learn more about them and this Covenant before taking anymore action. But it is revealed she has taken “souvenirs" from the ODST scouting team sent to the Grimmland’s and were promptly killed by Grimm.
  • Following the containment of the security breach and dealing with the Grimm and Haki, the rest of the summit proceeds as planned. Unfortunately Blue Team will require weeks at least to recover from their battle with Haki Felt, with Fred needing two months due to his critical injuries. The Paris will stay in Remnant as acting UNSC presence on the planet, as Sergeant Johnson and his men stay on Remnant to aid with any Grimm incursions, alongside unknowingly several ONI prowlers as well. Cole and the Everest will be returning to Earth for repairs and to deliver the report to HIGHCOM regarding Remnant’s discovery and what to do next. Halsey however tells Cole that they need Remnant’s help to survive the losing war against the Covenant after seeing their capabilities. Cole however is pessimistic on the chances of them joining given they are one planet and fears how they will react to the Covenant but he will try to see what he can do. Halsey meanwhile plans to stay on Remnant due to her interest in the planets esoteric nature and wanting to learn more about what Ozpin is hiding.

The Covenant arc

Jan. 10th, 2541 CE / 70 A.G.W.

  • Admiral Cole returns to Earth and reports to HIGHCOM of his findings as well as recommendations on what to do with Remnant; which is to form an alliance between them. Colonel James Ackerson however, fearing that an independent Remnant could serve as a potential threat to their authority or act as a spark of inspiration to still active Insurrectionist groups, advocates for a full on invasion and occupation till they annex the planet. Feeling that since they are a human world, they must fall under the authority of the UNSC. Admiral Cole, however promptly declares that Ackerson’s idea would be a horrible mistake that would end up destroying or turn against the people and resources they’re seeking to utilize against the Covenant. And the fact they have no right or grounds to even invade their world beyond such petty reasoning. All while depleting their own resources trying to annex a single planet while the war against the alien theocracy is ongoing. Thus he advises a mutual alliance with Remnant to bring their dust and huntsmen/huntresses into the war on their side; or in a worst case scenario, simply employ the huntsmen whenever needed. After some deliberation, HIGHCOM agrees with Cole's proposal, but some members like Parganosky still seek to subtly annex Remnant down the road due to the valid points Ackerson made.

Feb. 12th, 2541 CE / 70 A.G.W.

  • Admiral Cole returns to Remnant and brings the headmasters of the Huntsmen academies, the chieftain of Menagerie, and a single guest each up to the Everest where they reveal the existence of the Covenant to them. After the horrifying revelation is made to the Remnantarian’s, a mutual alliance is requested, and in order allow Remnant to verify their claims before coming to a decision, they offer to escort teams of Huntsmen delegates across UNSC space to verify the threat of the Covenant themselves. The headmasters accept, and Professor Ozpin assigns Qrow his first ever mission off-world.

Feb. 15th, 2541 CE / 70 A.G.W.

  • Qrow Branwen, along with other Huntsmen from Vale, the Ace-Ops from Atlas, and members of the White Fang from Menagerie, board the UNSC Midsummer Night, led by Commander Jacob Keyes who is to be their escort following several days preparation. Before they can leave, it is discovered by Keyes that the Happy Huntresses, a team of Huntresses from Mantle led by Robyn Hill, had somehow found out about the expedition and infiltrated it in a misguided effort to represent Mantle to the UNSC. Fearing that the growing division between Atlas and Mantle could result in a conflict similar to the Insurrection, Keyes allows them to stay but places them under arrest for the entire expedition.
  • The Midsummer Night departs the Oum System for the Eridanus System.

Mar. 15th, 2541 CE / 70 A.G.W.

  • The Midsummer Night emerges from slipspace in the Eridanus System, where the Huntsmen embark onto the glassed planet Eridanus II, landing near the glassed ruins of Elysium City.

Apr. 8th, 2541 CE / 70 A.G.W.

  • Upon arrival at the Kunlun System, where the Midsummer Night intends to explore the partially-glassed world of Khembalung, they manage to pick up what appears to be a distress signal emanating from the planet. After some deliberation with all parties involved, it is decided that squads of marines, including one led by Sergeant Johnson, and the Huntsmen Qrow Branwen, Clover Ebi, leader of the Ace-Ops, Robyn Hill, and Abby Redwall, a member of the White Fang delegation, would investigate the signal and attempt to find any survivors.
  • It is soon discovered, however, that the signal was a trap led by Kig-Yar privateers who strand the teams on the ground, assassinate most of the leadership, and force the Midsummer Night into a space battle against two storm cutters.
  • Sergeant Johnson and the Huntsmen are able to rally the survivors and launch a counter-attack against the Covenant pirates, with the Huntsmen proving to be a decisive factor in their victory. Simultaneously, thanks to clever tactics, Commander Keyes is able to destroy the cutters while sustaining relatively minimal damage. The survivors on Khembalung are returned to the Midsummer Night, and they jump to the nearby Inner Colony world of Vyraj for repairs and resupply.

Apr. 30th, 2541 CE / 70 A.G.W.

  • The Midsummer Night arrives over Vyraj where they are given priority access to orbital repair stations. While the crew and the Huntsmen go down to the planet for some shore leave, Commander Keyes is debriefed by ONI officers who are less than pleased about him walking into what was, in hindsight, an obvious trap. While he is not removed from the mission, Lieutenant Veronica Dare is assigned to be the official ONI liaison meant to ensure mission compliance.

May 8th - May 31st, 2541 CE / 70 A.G.W.

  • The crew of the Midsummer Night is unfortunately caught in the middle of an Insurrectionist terrorist attack in the city of Novaya Moskva which take the lives of hundreds of people. The attack is claimed by the Neo-Communist Worker's Liberation Party, prompting a UNSC operation to hunt down those responsible while the Huntsmen sit on the sidelines.
  • After nearly a month of counter-terrorism activities, UNSC forces, including Sergeant Johnson and Lieutenant Dare, raid the headquarters of the leader of the Worker's Liberation Party, managing to apprehend and take him in alive, ending the operation and pacifying the planet.

Jun. 5th, 2541 CE / 70 A.G.W.

  • As Vyraj celebrates the defeat of the local Insurrection and the Midsummer Night finishes its repairs, WINTER CONTINGENCY is suddenly declared as a Covenant fleet arrives in the system. The Midsummer Night is barely able to evacuate in time, and the Huntsmen delegates get a first-hand account of a planet getting glassed. Cole Protocol is initiated, and they make a random slipspace jump to escape the Covenant laying waste to Vyraj.

Jun. 8th, 2541 CE / 70 A.G.W.

  • As the crew of the Midsummer Night recovers from the Fall of Vyraj, it is discovered that UNSC artificial gravity technology, combined with the presence of a pressurized atmosphere equivalent to Earth's and Remnant's, can keep dust active outside Remnant's atmosphere.
  • The delegates universally decide that they have seen enough and request to return to Remnant and report to their people. Commander Keyes agrees to the request but reveals that due to their hasty retreat from Vyraj, they did not have time to get enough fuel needed for a return trip. This forces them to make a pitstop at the nearby Inner Colony world of Peponi.

Jun. 20th, 2541 CE / 70 A.G.W.

  • While on Peponi, several Huntsmen volunteer for a simple search-and-kill mission to find a predator responsible for recent human attacks, but it soon turns out way more than that as 3 grunts are found.
  • After capturing the grunts and interrogating them they get information there is a Forerunner site on Peponi called "the Cartographer" the Covenant is secretly excavating. This leads to a splinter group of Huntsmen, led by Robyn Hill, to scout and sabotage what they can before UNSC forces arrive. However, due to panic and the amount of time the Covenant was already there forces were sent as soon as the message was physically received, forcing the Midsummer Night to attempt a battlefield rescue.
  • As the UNSC secures the Cartographer, a Covenant Zealot lance led by veteran Blademaster Ir' Haramai attempt to flee with a downloaded copy of the Cartographer's data, but they are shot down before they can reach orbit. Shortly after, the UNSC discover what the Cartographer held within: a starmap containing the location of nearby Forerunner artifacts in the local sector, revealing the location of several human colonies in the process, including Remnant.
  • Recognizing the threat to both their peoples, the Midsummer Night and the Huntsmen launch a joint-operation to track down the wayward copy of the Cartographer's data. They track the Zealots to a nearby deuterium refinery and, after confirming that the Zealots had massacred the workers (upon Ir's orders and despite the protests of their newest member, Rteda' Vasovee), launch an orbital strike that levels the entire facility save for an underground fallout shelter.
  • Unfortunately, before the humans can secure the Cartographer's data, a Brute Pack led by Chieftain Atriox arrives to reinforce Ir's Zealots. Thanks to his direct intervention, the Covenant extracts the Cartographer's data and the Zealots to a nearby firebase and, following an orbital strike called in by Atriox on his location, two of the Vale Huntsmen are killed while Harriet Bree, a member of the Atlesian Ace-Ops, is critically wounded attempting to save them.
  • Realizing that with Covenant reinforcements arriving at Peponi any minute, and with the Cartographer still in the wind, the team splits into three groups. The first, consisting of Sergeant Johnson, his men, and Qrow Branwen, return to the Cartographer to assist the UNSC in destroying the Forerunner facility and thus preventing it from falling back into Covenant hands. The second, consisting of the Happy Huntresses and the White Fang, return to the city of New Timbuktu to assist with civilian evacuation. The third, consisting of the remaining Ace-Ops and the ODST Task Force 141, pursue the retreating Brutes and Zealots to either secure or destroy the Cartographer's data. One of the members of the White Fang, Gron Traekke, suggests to Sienna Khan, the leader of the White Fang delegates and second-in-command of the entire organization as a whole, a plan to sneak Covenant weapons back to Remnant to use in a revenge campaign against humans who've oppressed them, but an outraged Sienna refuses.
  • As the Happy Huntress and the White Fang assist with the civilian evacuation, the Ace-Ops and Task Force 141 assault a Covenant convoy carrying the Cartographer. They are able to knock Atriox and his lieutenant Decimus off-course, but Ir' Haramai and his men are able to extract the Cartographer's data onto a Phantom dropship. Atriox attempts to call in for rescue, but Ir leaves him for dead out of a sense of petty revenge over being shown up by him. But, as they are leaving the atmosphere, Ir receives reports that indicate the humans plan to destroy the Cartographer entirely. Fearing that he'll be blamed for its destruction, he orders his Phantom to divert from their course to intervene. Rteda protests this deviation and, when Ir attempts to execute his unruly subordinate for "heresy", Rteda causes a shootout that results in their Phantom crashing in the Peponi jungle.
  • Atriox, incensed over being left for dead, reestablishes limited contact with the Valorous Penance, the Covenant stealth frigate both he and Ir were attached to. He is ordered by the Minister of Veracity to hunt down and execute Ir and his Zealots for treason after they diverted from their course. Atriox agrees, but his request for reinforcements is denied. Meanwhile, Rteda is being hunted down by his former teammates, including Ir himself. He manages to find Atriox first and, after convincing the Brutes of his innocence in Ir's heresy, work together to put Ir down.
  • Using a previously shot-down Phantom, the Ace-Ops and Task Force 141 pursue the Phantom carrying the Cartographer's data to the Valorous Penace. Realizing that letting the Covenant leave with the data would result in the deaths of billions, and faced with no other option, the humans are able to briefly board and toss a high-explosive octa charge, set on a timer, into the frigate's hanger before bugging out. While the Covenant attempt to pursue them, the octa detonates, destroying the Valorous Penance and the Cartographer's data entirely. The Ace-Ops and Task Force 141 are then secured by an ONI Prowler.
  • Meanwhile, the Happy Huntresses and White Fang continue to assist with the evacuation, but Gron is critically wounded following an engagement. UNSC Army soldiers attempt to extract him, not caring about his faunus attributes, but they are caught and killed by a Covenant lance. Believing that he won't be killed by the Covenant since he is a faunus, Gron attempts to surrender but is refused. Before the Covenant can kill him, Gron kills himself and most of the Covenant squad with the use of poison gas, much to the dismay of his teammates.
  • At the Cartographer, Sergeant Johnson and Qrow finish the preparations of the demolition charges while the Covenant desperately attempt to stop them. Racing away on a Warthog, they are pursued by a super-massive Covenant dropship armed with a focus cannon similar to those wielded by Scarabs, which they dub a Lich. Before the Lich can kill them, the charges detonate, destroying the Cartographer and taking the Lich with it.
  • With their objectives accomplished, the Midsummer Night extracts the survivors and leaves Peponi as the Covenant finally overwhelm the UNSC defenses, leaving for Reach. At the same time, Atriox, Decimus, and Rteda reunite with Covenant forces laying waste to New Timbuktu. They discover that the Valorous Penance was destroyed by the humans, which simultaneously made all of their efforts and sacrifices pointless and prevented the wider Covenant from learning about Ir's heresy as the Minister of Veracity was killed before the knowledge could spread. Rteda is offered to join a new Zealot lance but, disillusioned with the entire order, feigns a belief that doing so would dishonor the name of his former teammates and instead requests to rejoin the rank-and-file, a request which is approved. He and Atriox bid a mutually respectful farewell, and they join the Covenant efforts in wiping out the remaining humans on the planet.

July 10th, 2541 CE / 70 A.G.W.

  • The "Midsummer Night" crew and delegates arrive on Reach where Harriet is taken to a hospital to get treatment and the remaining Huntsmen & Huntresses are taken for a debriefing to get as much intel on what exactly happened on Peponi.
  • While Keyes' punishment by ONI was to be relieved of command of the "Midsummer Night" he is also reassigned as a Navy liaison on Remnant.

July 15th, 2541 CE / 70 A.G.W.

  • Harriet wakes up after getting treatments for most of her injuries, she is met with a choice to replace her arm with either a prosthetic or a flash-cloned one. She opts for the former by the logic that when information about the Covenant is spread across Remnant every available Huntsmen & Huntress will be needed to hold back the Grimm.
     "Modern Day" ( 2551 CE / 80 A.G.W.)
  • The events of the prologue occur. Remnant is discovered by the Covenant, who begin to glass it, only to abruptly stop when they realize it's a Forerunner Shield World.
