  • It's sad to see that, for all her dad's efforts to give her a better life, Li Na isn't happy with the way things are. Although rich and a top-model, she's surrounded on all sides by people she can hardly call her friends. Two conversations at the party establishes that nobody respects what she has to say. She tells a vendor she doesn't want to endorse lipstick that's not cruelty-free, yet they simply take that as a yes. Another vendor seemingly has an interest in her future, but it's only to sell a new fashion line of undergarments. By the time Din meets her again (proper), he finds her hiding under a pile of her birthday presents, crying her eyes out.
  • Upon listening in on Din and Li Na's "Something's missing" conversation, Long has a sad look on his face. Second time watching it, one could interpret he felt the same way in his previous life, no matter how much gold he amassed.
  • When Din is confounded by Long's deep-rooted belief that humanity revolves around being rich and wonders if that's all 1000 years ever taught him, Long says in a dead serious voice "...Yes." For a moment, Long lowers his gaze, as though subconsciously suspecting it's this kind of thinking from his previous life that lead to him being punished by the Heavens.
  • Long staring through the window sadly was he watches Li Na and Din hanging out with the friends and family he never had.
  • After Li Na reluctantly leaves Din because he's poor, a bitter Din wishes to be rich. This is Din's last wish and granting it will get Long into Heaven. But instead of just granting his wish and leaving Long tries to warn Din not to do it by revealing his backstory.
  • Long's backstory. Once upon a time he was a rich and powerful ruler, but his greed and desire for wealth could never be sated and ended up destroying his family. He arranged for his daughters to marry into wealthy families regardless of their feelings. He sent his son out to win more gold who was killed during that crusade and when his body is returned, Long spares him but a single moment of remorse before moving on. Long discovers that when he was on this own deathbed he was completely alone.
  • While on the verge of death, Mr. Wang apologizes to Li Na for how he failed to give her a better life. Li Na responds that all she ever truly wanted was to spend quality time with her dad. Had it not been for Din's last wish, this would've been a tragic story of a man who wasted time he could've spent with his daughter only to die just as he realized what's most important in life.
  • Long taking Pockets' Midas Touch for Din.
