Valder's confrontation with Prince Harmon, who is possessing Ragna at the time, is fairly rife with this. Valder is trying to get through to Ragna and he admits to many, many faults in himself (most of which Harmon points out in attempts to break him and make him go away) as he comes closer and closer. Ragna is such a violent individual, seeing her actually in-tears as she fights for control is more heartbreaking than one would think.
It crosses with heartwarming when the moment culminates after the battle with Valder throws himself on Ragna in a heartfelt hug, pleading with her like he never has before, to return to him.
Greenfinger Zawan's death.
It says much about Zawan's personality that, faced with Lytra, who is there to kill him (albeit while saying sorry to him), he is less concerned with his impending death and more concerned with the fact Lytra is a child involved in battle.
The game's ending is also pretty heartbreaking. Thanks to Tenri's reckless actions, the continental alliance has crumbled despite Mercia's best attempts to salvage it. Nuru makes it clear things are definitely going to become very difficult, going forward.
Oddvar's backstory as one of the children fleeing Valder's destroyed village. It's implied that his Jerkass behaviour as the group's leader was just him trying (very poorly) to survive and cope. When his "family" fell apart from attrition and abandonment, leaving Oddvar all alone, he found that the Fallow-crazed undead were ignoring him, because he was now dead on the inside. In the end, after divulging his history to Valder, and noticing that same dead look in the Fel Lord's eyes, Oddvar sadly recinds his claim to the Fell Gauntlet and decides to kill himself using his magic scepter, sending himself and his "children" "home".
