  • The impending demise of poor Julie in the opening scene.
    • It gets worse as Julie cries for her father, not just because she's frightened but also because of potential claustrophobia, not to mention the chemical burns being caused to her body or the fact that she's about to die.
    • Not to mention the possibility that Julie's father may well have already been murdered as it is later revealed he too was a victim of Malestrazza and poor Julie would never have known.
    • To make matters worse, the song playing in the background on Sam's first night in Julie's old apartment is Silent Night, either this was set up by Mary as a memorial for her or this really was the last song Julie listened to before her murder.
  • Think what it would have been like for a then-pregnant Mary to find out her husband and daughter had mysteriously disappeared and turned out to have been murdered by burial in cement.
    • Given the state of Julie's apartment when Sam moves in, it was Christmas around the time of her murder (and quite possibly her father's too), no wonder Mary snapped the way she did.
    • Mary ends up driving her son to suicide, leaving her with no family, no home and no job in addition to possible lifetime imprisonment.
    • To make matters even worse for Mary, she was prepared to have her own husband and daughter's final resting place destroyed.
  • The above point makes Sam's reason for being at the Malestrazza building all the more poignant as she could have been the one to oversee the destruction of the final resting place of Malestrazza's victims.
  • All those families who will have lost loved ones to Malestrazza's Human Sacrifice rituals.
    • Malestrazza could have murdered an entire family.
  • The abuse and off-screen beheading of Jimmy's dog.
  • Sam loses her boyfriend Peter who is also her closest ally when Jimmy shoots him dead just when they were planning to go on a 3-week European tour together.
  • The few remaining other residents were determined not to leave the Malestrazza building in spite of the gruesome events that took place there. For some of them, it would have been the only home they'd ever known and it's likely any alternative accommodation would not have been ideal for them.
    • Said residents could have also lost family members to Malestrazza.
