PRINT "cry" and TRACE "sorrow"
— Gigi, Gigi's Song

You'd think that someone proclaiming that there is no game would be making you laugh as you annoy them, however, this is not the case.

  • Looking through the trash within Game's fake operating system in Chapter 1 shows a note that states Gigi had to go. It only gets worse from there.
    • It's later revealed she was removed from Game's source code by their creator.
  • My Actual Code, aka Gigi's Song. It's both beautiful and hard to not cry. It goes on about how they would wish to be played but know it can never occur. Several lines are depressing on their own such as the chorus. It gets even worse if you imagine Gigi as a gynoid that's just been restrained against her will and rewired to sing out her deepest fear, that Game was damaged so badly when she was forced away and that she feels guilty about it. On top of bearing her soul (her code), Game's there trying to console her, but because she's been forced to sing in time with the tune, she's screaming out a code and begging the User to input it to free her.
♪ COLOR is set to ZERO
PRINT "cry" and TRACE "Sorrow"
FOR GIGI - YOU
Type END
What's a GAME with no pleasure?
LOOP until US = TOGETHER
IF HOME is what we earn
THEN GOTO ME and press RETURN ♪
Here's an example of how this code could look:

  • Color = 0; //If RGB values are 0, you get black, or a silhouette, Gigi missing from Game, and what happens when you execute the code.
  • Print("Cry"); //What she's been doing all this time internally.
  • Trace("Sorrow"); //The following is why she's been crying.
  • For(Gigi - You)
  • {Type("End");} //This could be the END of their original project, the code string, and an end to their sharing the same program.
  • // "What's a GAME with no pleasure?" Just a direct question, no gameplay, no game.
  • Loop {Us = Together}( //This function makes the chorus repeat until you reunite Gigi and Game.
  • If (Home = Earned) //This is the function that breaks the loop of the song and frees Gigi, and is an allusion to her new Home, the GPS program.
  • {Goto me; //An allusion to pressing the in-game Return button, "Me" being the GAMEPLAY mechanic of executing the code.
  • Press(Return); //Sends the User and Game to their starting point, the beginning and... sends Gigi back to the GPS game, executes the code and RETURNS everything back to how it was...
}

  • After Game tries to redo Chapter 1 with his intro during chapter 6, he sounds more depressed than he originally said it, and then his Heroic BSoD kicks in. The room floods with tears (made of binary given that he's a program) as he can't stop sobbing. It's no wonder why he wanted the user to leave him alone.
Game: [slowly, deliberately] Hello, User. This is the program speaking. I've got some bad news. Actually, there is no game. I hope you're not too disappointed. You can still watch TV... with someone. Go outside... to see someone. Read a book... to someone. There is nothing here for you anymore. No more entertainment. No more fun. No more... game. [breaks down sobbing]
  • During the final chapter, Game is reunited with GiGi, and finds out her code was repurposed for a GPS based RPG. Game is then told they're inside their Creator's phone. Game expresses disgust and frustration until GiGi explains that Creator had to cancel working on Game. GiGi then tells Game that the Creator was so proud of Game, but just didn't have the funds to continue development and pay his bills, so he had to quit development and do something else. You then see the Creator sit down at his desk, sigh, and start writing code for something. Made even more sad when you find out the devleoper IRL did run a kickstarter that sadly failed, and ultimately had to cut the development of "There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension" short.
Game: (Creator) took you away from me!
GiGi: He didn't have a choice.
    Game: What do you mean?
GiGi: he didn't have the money to keep developing us. He had to find a fallback solution in order to make ends meet.
Game: I thought he quit because of my bugs.
GiGi: Not at all. He was so proud of us... of you.
  • When you're given the Last-Second Ending Choice to play the game that Game's been trying to keep you away from or delete Game's source code, it can seem like it would be best if his source code doesn't exist so that Mr. Glitch can't come back into existence if you choose the latter. However, this is subverted.
