Tear Jerker / The Watcher in the Rain

• The backstory of Crucius' Mother. She was once a maid of the Planetary Governor's household. She gave away the last of her money to bribe a missionary to take care of an infant Crucius in hopes that he would live a better life. Many years later, Crucius, now an agent of the Inquisition, finds her in the slums, and she is revealed to have become a drug addict. As part of his test, Crucius tortures her under suspicions of treason, and during the interrogation she becomes lucid enough that she recognizes Crucius as her son due to having his Father's eyes. The poor woman ultimately dies from the torture, and it gets worse from there. Crucius knew from the start that she was his mother, and despite knowing of her innocence, he still tortured her out of obedience to his master. This was all done to test Crucius' (blind) obedience to the Inquisition and ensure that he was ruthlessly committed to fight the enemies of the Imperium, no matter the cost.
