Tear Jerker / The Jungle Book 2

Go To

  • Mowgli getting harshly berated and punished by the village leader for nearly bringing the others into the jungle. He even makes a cold stare towards Shanti for getting him into trouble for this. Later that evening he looks out the window missing his jungle friends.
  • When Shanti finds out that Mowgli is friends with Baloo and that the former ordered the latter to scare her as a means of keeping their fun times in the jungle as a secret, she is completely hurt by this and runs off while taking Ranjan; even refusing to listen to Mowgli when he tries to explain his reasons. And when Mowgli angrily berates Baloo for scaring her, Baloo coldly points out that Mowgli wanted Shanti to find him and that he should've reconsidered his idea to scare her in the first place. Realizing this, a guilty Mowgli runs off to Shanti. If that wasn't enough, the comic-book adaptation has Mowgli visibly in tears during this scene.
    Mowgli: Shanti, I can explain!
Shanti: (angrily) Don't even bother!!! (runs off while taking Ranjan)
    Mowgli: Shanti, wait!
Baloo: Man, you weren't kidding about her: she's bad news.
Mowgli: (angrily) No, she's not! She was trying to help and you scared her!
Baloo: (outraged) Man alive! First, you tell me to scare her, then you tell me not to scare her! Kid, I only got so much room up in this noggin, and it's filling up fast!
Mowgli: (angrily) You just don't understand!
Baloo: (coldly) Alright, how's about laying it out for me?!
(Mowgli tries to think to something to explain, but is unable to as he is still watching Shanti running away)
Baloo: (disappointed) Read you loud and clear, kid. You wanted that girl to find you.
  • Mowgli giving Baloo a proper goodbye. As in, crying into his stomach by attempting to convince Baloo to live in the village, though Baloo points out that the villagers wouldn't be comfortable of having a wild creature (in spite of his friendly nature) in their village.
    Mowgli: Come with me.
Baloo: You know I can't do that...
