- Lydia Crane's Christmas party, with Hunham's quietly crestfallen look when he learns that a supposed love interest — his first in decades — is already happily in a relationship, followed by Mary's drunken, grief-stricken breakdown about Curtis's death.
- The Reveal that the box Mary takes such good care of is full of sentimental toys, baby clothes, and other items from when Curtis was a boy. When her sister enters the room to find her unpacking the box, they simply share a tearful hug.
- Angus visiting his father in the psych ward. For all of Angus's prickly and irreverent nature, he becomes sincerely vulnerable and desperate for affection, clearly loving and missing his father deeply — and badly needing a parent due to his mother stranding him at Christmas. When his father barely acknowledges him and only confides his paranoia in the ward staff, Angus's heartbreak is palpable.
