• Gatmuz's death, especially his words to Nova before his Heroic Sacrifice:
  I always will protect you... no matter what awaits me... even if I must learn you live... I will gladly end my life so you survive... I... love you...
• Theron's death.
  You still have much to learn, Caesar. Sacrifice is one thing you never understood. But I hope your new clarity allows you to understand this... this is what we do for the ones we love.
• In The Gathering of Heroes, Odie's whole dynamic with Scimitar, whom he idolized, and then even worse is the Hope Spot when they rescue Scimitar and he dies in Odie's arms. Not easy to read at all, especially since it's Odie.
• In Dawn of Dusk, Himiko, Balaur, and Tomoe's deaths. Possibly even Lucan and Guivre's depending on who you ask.
