• What happened to Giorgia both before Matteo and Nicola met her and after Nicola finds her tied in the basement of the hospital he was inspecting.

• Angelo's death. Yes, both the characters and the audience were ready for it since everyone was aware of his health condition, but you can't help but feel broken at the sight of Nicola and Matteo bursting into tears.
• Matteo's suicide. Not only do we witness his last moments of complete void and isolation from the world, his family and Mirella. Not only we witness him throwing himself carelessly from the balcony while everyone is cheering at the New Year and no one has any idea of ​​what's happening to him. No. We also have to go through the complete aftermath, his siblings' and his mother's utter shock and despair, blood being washed away from the ground... The scene is just heartbreaking, no need to say any more.
• Giulia's abandonment and its consequences on Nicola and, most of all, Sara. Nicola manages to be a great single father for his daughter, but it's rather clear how much the lack of a mother affects the girl, especially when she grows up and shows her resent to what Giulia has done. Sara gets over it though.
• Adriana's death. Surely she dies peacefully and due to her age, as Mirella confirms in the letter she sends to Nicola, after spending her last years with Mirella and Andrea, but it's undeniable just how much of a tearjerker the whole letter scene is. The moment that makes you want to hug both your mother and grandma.
