Tearjerker moments relating to Paul McCartney.
- In 1981 songwriter Carl Perkins was invited to the island of Montserrat to participate in the recording of Paul ’s album “Tug Of War“. To thank Paul for being his host Perkins presented him with a song called “My Old Friend“ which incorporated the words ‘my old friend, won’t you think about me every now and then’. The song moved Paul to tears and, when Perkins enquired why this was, Linda told him that, at their last in-person meeting before his murder John Lennon had bid farewell to Paul with the words ‘Think about me every now and then, old friend’. Paul insisted on recording a version the song as soon as possible and professed that it helped him to finally come to terms with Lennon's death.

- In 2018, Paul participated in a March For Our Lives rally in New York protesting gun violence. When asked why the cause was important to him, he replied, "One of my best friends was killed by gun violence."
