Tear Jerker / Inheritance of Cards and Demons

• Chapter 5. With the aftermath of Memory Card's possession of the school, poor Rin's reputation is destroyed. His father begs Rin to tell, but he doesn't say anything. Rin is ostracized by everyone with people afraid of him or hateful toward him.
• Chapter 14. All of it. It is the story of Rin interacting with Littlest Cancer Patient Natsuko. She dies near the end of the chapter.
• Chapter 20. During the sports festival Rin becomes so discouraged by the fear and rejection of his classmates that he goes off to cry by himself.
• Chapter 22. Mirror impersonates Rin after locking him away. When he manages to free himself and confronts the Card, a furious Rin asks why Mirror tried to replace him... only for the Card to ask why Rin is trying to replace Sakura.
• Chapter 25. Rin accidentally travels to the past chasing after a card and meets his mother when she was still pregnant with him and Yukio. It's both heartwarming and heartbreaking when Rin tells his mother how he and Yukio are doing, barely able to hold back his tears.
• Chapter 41. After twin forces him to finally reveal the existence of magic to Yukio and the two of them tag team the card, Rin takes away that memory. It is especially sad because the reader get an insight immediately beforehand that Yukio was receptive of the idea and would have been supportive, so if only Rin had known about Yukio being an exorcist the the pain he suffered by keeping magic a secret could have been avoided. That said, there is a mysterious force at work actively preventing Rin from discovering Yukio's secrets that may well have influenced Rin's decision, which does not invalidate his pain at all and might make is worse from a certain perspective.
• A brief one during the Judgement when Yue emerges for the first time and Sekki can only watch, knowing that he will be fighting Rin.
• A small one in Golden Girl but the fact that Rin has never been to an arcade really illustrates how isolated Rin has always been.
  • Also from GG, the fact that Rin (as Sora) and Riku are never going to be together like this ever again is sad for some readers.
• Throughout IoM we see Yukio transforming into his Jerkass canon self. We also see how conflicted he is about the growing distance between him and his brother.
• Near the end of IoM, Rin has to fight Ying Hua.
• Shiro learns about Rin being a mage. He takes it very badly.
• The side story Bust has Rin being made a scapegoat for an accident at his school and he is forced to miss the school trip he had been looking foward to.
• The side story Snowfall has more dissapointment for Rin as the Christmas party he was planning gets cancelled due to his whole family getting sent on a mission, which then runs long enough that they miss his birthday too.
• Seeing the total lack of respect or understanding Rin gets from his family is sad.
• Shiro being hurt and Rin blaming himself for it.
• Rin being outed and rejected by his first human friends and his reaction to it.
