• A definite case of YMMV is with several of the storylines involving Lisa Moore. Lisa the outcast plain Jane girl who eventually overcame all of that to become a mother figure for young employees at Montoni's (the local pizza place), a successful attorney and advocate for those who have endured what she's had to endure. And it's quite a lot: The victim of dating abuse (and later rape) by her boyfriend, the victim of an attempted bombing at Montoni's ... and most notably, her struggle with breast cancer, one that will eventually take her life. Although often panned as Narm (mostly by critics who thought the strip itself had fallen way off its original gag-a-day premise), the strips depicting the final hours of Lisa's life – a dream sequence where she makes peace with her father and finally meeting the Grim Reaper – are truly difficult to read. However, some of the tear-jerking effect is lessened (and rendered NARMY) by later developments in the strip, where Lisa repeatedly appears as a too-good-to-be-true ghost, or on TV screens in an (endless) series of always-correct advice videos she prepared for her family to watch over the decades.
