Tear Jerker / Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest

As is the case with all pages detailing Tear Jerker, Spoilers Off

  • Erza suffers a major Heroic BSoD after Kyria uses her magic to cut her strength and mentality. As a result, Erza becomes a coward, self-conscious and unable to fight back. All she can do is beg Kyria to spare her life, and Kyria practically treats her like a pet and slave, and probably worse than that if her attitude is any indication. Thankfully, she does recover when the magic wears off.
  • While Brandish recounts the status of the Spriggan 12, she mentions that Larcade is missing. It's quite tragic, as like everyone else save for Natsu, Brandish doesn't know that Larcade was in actuality killed by Zeref.
  • At the end of chapter 19, it looks like Natsu is about to be consumed by Mercuphobia's whirlpool attack, with Gray being unable to stop it even with his ice. Happy and Lucy can only watch in despair as they watch their best friend vanish before their eyes. Lucy’s reaction is especially heartbreaking as Natsu left her for a year, was able to survive Zeref’s end and yet is in danger again and disappearing before her eyes and she can’t stop it. Thankfully, for a value of "lucky", one of the other God Dragons saves Natsu for his own personal reasons.
  • Carmille's reactions as the team fight Mercuphobia. She's trying to hold back tears but fails to do so. She genuinely does not want Mercuphobia to die but she believes that it's the only way for him to have peace.
  • In chapter 28, the fates of all Fairy Tail members including Jellal reveals that they been brainwashed to serve their master, the White Mage. This leaves Natsu, Lucy and Erza all the more horrified when the White Mage orders the brainwashed Lisanna and Elfman to beat up their older sister, Mira for her failure.
  • After being defeated by Mimi in Chapter 72, Lucy breaks down under the belief that even after all the hard work she has done, she is still weak.
  • Crosses over with Nightmare Fuel, but seeing the normally kind and sweet Lucy and Wendy, as well as the Exceeds, all transformed into monstrous Youkai by Youko for Selene's cheap amusement, with their humanity stripped from them, and being reduced to sadistic predators. The sight of these pure characters twisted and corrupted into these forms, all while Selene and her servants cackle at them, is truly heartbreaking. Also the fact that Natsu and Gray are being forced to Staking the Loved One if they themselves need to survive.
  • Irene feeling genuinely sorry that she tried to take over her daughter's existence with one of her enchantments. She is brought to tears because she witnessed the magnitude of Erza's spirit and how wonderful a person she became growing up, and it would have been cruel to take that away. Irene sees the only proper atonement would be to grow up in a world without magic to afflict her with anymore suffering, and transfers Selene's fatal injuries to her lingering persona, which will erase what remains of the enchantress. However, she asks Selene to send her to a world without magic, where she can use a final enchantment to be reborn with a blank slate as a brand new life. She's sent to Edolas, and becomes Mystogan and Erza Knightwalker's newborn baby, Irene.
  • Jellal's surprising backstory. His dad died when he was a little boy, forcing him to be the one to care for his mother and ensure her safety. Then, the Cult of Zeref sacked his home to take the children and murdered all the adults. He witnessed his mom get cut down, and then the cult took him prisoner. The kicker? "Jellal" is the name he chose to adopt after becoming a prisoner. His given name was Siegrain all along. Condemning himself for being too weak to save his mother, he believed that "Siegrain" would have been strong enough to keep his promise to his mom, enroll at a magic school, then get admitted to a more prestigious one in the city for his academic success, rack up many acheivements, then go on to join the Magic Council. This regret became the basis of the Siegrain identical twin persona that acted as his doppelganger, whose embellished background checked all these boxes. "Jellal" was really the falsehood he chose to live with in shame of being so useless.
