Tear Jerker / Dracula's Daughter

Go To

  • Marya in contrast with her father Dracula, shows humanity. Dracula was portrayed as being simply evil. He was only playing with humans (his food) acting as a gentleman, but he was purely evil. But Marya constantly is seen serious, cold and... sad. She really wanted a cure for her vampirism, but she can't be cured. She is almost basically the female (and vampiric) version of Larry Talbot.
  • As she burns her father's corpse, she prays for his exorcism and her possible free. A vampire. Praying to God.
  • Lili's death. At first, she is sad, probably she is very poor, looking for the river in London City, probably Driven to Suicide. Sandor promised her food, drink, a great cuantity of money if she poses for the Countess. Not only Marya's attempt to overcome her vampirism fails, but she also attacked Lili. Lili died in the hospital shortly after. Her last moments she was hypnotized by Garth's psychiatrist science, she remembers her traumatic experience with the Countess, and she died terrified, from heart-stop and blood loss.
  • Altrough she did horrible things almost against her will, Marya's death at the hands of Sandor is sad.
    • Her death is even more sad, but heartwarming in the novelization. She died as in the movie, but this time, after a character looks her corpse and saying how beautiful she is, Van Helsing says in response: "All souls are beautiful in the eyes of God".
