As is the case will all pages detailing Tear Jerkering Moments, Spoilers Off

  • During Chapter XI, Lelouch, in order to regain his will to fight and lead as Zero again, requests C.C. show him a vision of post-Devastation Japan. The vision alone is heart-wrenching as Lelouch takes in the destruction and the innocents lost therein. However, what really jerks the eyes is when he ends up stumbling over a seemingly innocuous piece of metal. Upon digging it out, he soon finds that it is the former gate sign of Ashford Academy, indicating that he is standing on the very spot it had once been. It is through this heartbreak, and C.C.'s ushering thereafter, that Lelouch, at last, regains his will to continue on as Zero, even declaring (as he did fifteen years before) his intent to destroy Britannia.
  • Lelouch's reaction to the truth of Genbu Kururugi's death. Learning it stuns him and saps him of the will to continue his duel with Suzaku, which nearly got him killed if not for Kallen. Suzaku's own proclamation of his willingness to kill Lelouch no matter how long it takes leaves him [Lelouch] in tears — it's here where Lelouch comes to realize that he and Suzaku can never reconcile, no matter how much he desires to have his former best friend by his side again.
  • Rakshata's past. Basically General Cao of the CLA strongarmed her into building four Knightmares (the Shenhu and its siblings) by threatening to butcher Mumbai. Rakshata created the mechs... and Cao had the city butchered anyway to remind Rakshata "who the brown ass slave was." Understandably Xingke is appalled when he learns the full story.
  • Cornelia's recollection of her final conversation with Euphie, which manages to make Euphie's death even sadder. As it turns out the very last time they spoke Cornelia harshly dismissed her dreams and called her an idiot for throwing her title away, even saying that she'd hate her. In the present day, Cornelia is deeply haunted that she never got to the Avalon to tell her sister that she still loved her.
  • Kallen's reaction to Lelouch's (temporary) death. Seeing him dead with her Geass was heartbreaking enough, especially as she gradually and systematically broke down, begging him to "move" (as in one part, any part, of his body to function and indicate that he was still alive) over and over. But then, upon realizing that he really was beyond recovery, she goes berserk, kills V.V. (for a time), and his henchmen in a fit of rage (all the while remaining fixed upon Lelouch's corpse through her Geass), screaming in fury and agony throughout. At the end of it, she loses the last of her will to continue on and gives way to despair, collapsing in a sobbing heap and outright pleading to be killed herself. Even C.C. shed tears toward her anguish (among other things).
