Tear Jerker / Balibo

• After returning from their ill-fated trek to Balibo, José and Roger return to the village only to find it massacred by the Indonesians, with the majority of the villager shaving been slaughtered even though they were unarmed and defenseless. The two are left horrified and in the midst of a massive Heroic BSoD.
  José: Savages. SAVAGES! ...Savages.
• The Balibo Five being brutally murdered one by one by the TNI, after the film has spent much time establishing them as earnest, kind-hearted young men who genuinely care about East Timor.
• Roger being led to his execution while watching civilians being brutalized and killed during the invasion of Dili, only able to futilely beg for his life and insult his killers.
  • His death is even worse, with shots of his corpse falling into the ocean being interspersed with scenes of nature and East Timor's wilderness.
