Despite its cheery and colorful artstyle, Artifisouls has a very sad story to tell us.

- The backstory of Arata revealed by Halibut can bring out some tears from someone after hearing it. The planet used to be a prosperous world dominated by the wildlife and protected by the Great Spirits, powerful creatures that inhabited Arata. Until humanity came to this world, with intentions of colonizing it. A great battle was fought for the planet and while the Spirits proved to be stronger than the humans, the humans launched what it would be later known as the Curse, which consisted of nuclear bombs that, alongside a massive barrage of plasma, killed the Spirits and irradiated the planet. It is said that the ghost of the Spirits are still in the long and distant space, waiting for one day to return.
- The humans, while thinking it was necessary, also felt really bad for having to rely on the nuclear bombs to take over the planet.
- MD trying to make Skittie remember while trying to remember his own is a pretty sad thing to see. Imagine that you woke up after your friend destroyed you, then you see he is acting differently than the one you remember so you try to make him remember his past, only to realize you don’t remember yours either.
