Chapter 1

In a distant planet named Arata, a blue robot awakens in a ruined and abandoned factory. After meeting a a human child with a box on their head, the robot encounters a deactivated robot that could be brought back. The child gives the robot a weird battery that after putting inside his fellow machine, an ominous energy comes out of the battery and possesses the blue robot and while it activated the other broken robot, it deactivates again after having his battery removed again by the possessed robot. The child runs away from the scenario. The blue robot reawakens again and meets a robot girl named Ati who was searching for scrap. She calls the robot Skittie due to the SC-T words written in his arm. Skittie asks to help him repair the other robot and she begrudgingly accepts his request, on the condition he brings spare parts to repair the robot. He goes to a nearby village she tells him to go for spare parts. In the village, he befriends another robot named Scales who takes him to the local tailor where he gets his sweater. They both go to Pekkr’s shop where they get what Skittie needs for Ati, except a piece called the stardust core. Pekkr’s suggests to go to another shop owned by two other robots called Oku and Kuta. When Skittie arrives to the shop, he meets again with the child from earlier before and chases after them, only to lose them after running for a while and goes to the shop. There, he meets with the shopkeepers and asks if they have a stardust core, unfortunately, they don’t have it but suggests that what Skittie seeks is a core from creatures called Mimmets, they also reveal the name of the child from earlier, the child is called Liz. In the broken factory from earlier, Liz is shown retrieving cores where he is ambushed by a Mimmet, but they manage to escape in time. Scales returns home and Halibut, his caretaker asks for the fishing rods he requested to Scales to bring him from Pekkr’s. Scales gives him the fishing rods and they both go to fish under the moonlight. There, Halibut tells to Scales the story of the planet, before humanity colonized the world, Arata used to be a planet that flourished in both fauna and flora, with the wildlife being protected by the Great Beasts, when humanity came to the planet to colonize, a great war broke between the two races, with humanity winning the war by launching nuclear bombs against the spirits but leaving the planet highly irradiated. Night becomes morning and Skittie returns to Ati with the parts she asked for but she is infuriated by the fact that he hasn’t brought the stardust core, she then tells him to go find it but Skittie, tired of having to wait decides to check what she is up to. It turns out that she hasn’t even made a single fixing on the robot he asked to repair and instead had been using the parts to build a spaceship. Ati discovers that Skittie is spying and after a little bit of arguing, she accepts to repair the robot. This chapter ends with the robot being repaired and brought to life.

Chapter 2

The repaired robot awakes and recognizes Skittie immediately, but calls him Kyle and asks if the transference went well. Skittie has no idea of what this robot is asking and after naming himself MD due to the words written in his arm, they both return to the factory for answers, much to Ati’s annoyance who demands Skittie to find her the stardust core. In the factory, they discover a camera that seems to have a clue of their past but due to the moisture and water of the location, the camera is damaged. They decide to go to Pekkr to ask her to fix the camera and she agrees. Then Pie comes and announces that a solar flare is coming and this time he is right, with the flare frying up several robots and being taken to the repair stations. The duo happened to be close by the Hunter’s Headquarters so they meet up with Stellar and Flare, Stellar invites Skittie to go hunting mimmets to which he is resigned to join after Stellar gives him the sparkly eyes. MD for his part, decides to stay inside the shop until the flare storm goes away and talks with Oku and Kuta. In a different zone, Scales brings to a fortune teller named Shikaan a secret delivery and she lets the little robot to rest in her house. In there, Scales discovers a book called “Celestial Guidance” and she decides to tell him certain aspects of Arata’s astronomy. Excidium, the star that Arata and the star Eltarius translates is prone to produce solar storms, but this storms can also bring down the mimmets, who seek energy sources and kill for it. Ocasionally, a few colorful comets fall down with one of them shining more brightly than the other comets. Scales says that the commet could be a space angel and after saying goodbye leaves for home. In a forest, Skittie, Stellar and Flare are hunting down a small mimmet who won’t bite the bait and after chasing it down, they discover why. There was a even bigger energy source and a giant mimmet was in the vicinity. It attacks with ferocity to Flare and breaks his helmet and the three decide to retreat, until suddenly, Ati appears and starts attacking the giant mimmet, holding it very well on her own by attaching a device on her wrench and knocking down the mimmet. It seemed she had the upper hand but it ended up with the mimmet knocking her down with its tail. Skittie notices that his chest is starting to glow with a weird blue light. The group tries to run from the mimmet, but Skittie is dragged off by the monster and is seemingly absorbed by it. Until suddenly, the light of his chest suddenly bursts out the mimmet and frees Skittie from the beast, seemingly killing it, but also looking like he is corrupted again Skittie however manages to come back to his senses, but in the mist, we see what appears to be a child that turns back to be the mimmet and return to its attacking.
