- The concept of a romance between those of two different species, one of which as an uncontrollable urge to eat the other, can only end badly, but thankfully it's finally resolved in part 14.
- In the prequel, no one sees humanity as anything else but potential livestock, and even Gentle Giant Hiboritch is laughing about Tori's abduction. Makes you wonder how they felt about themselves when Acktreal came to the opposite conclusion about humanity, especially since Acktreal would have had the most to gain from humanity being confirmed as "livestock" species.
- It serves as a sort of Cerebus Retcon to Hiboritch's amusing mishap with his converter chip in part 6. He was anxious to talk to a human, any human, to congratulate them on having their species classification upgraded beyond that, as a means to assuage his guilt. He probably couldn't even bear to face Tori directly.
- Also from the prequel, Evianporial making constant passive-aggressive remarks about Acktreal's carnivorism, from asking why she refuses to eat with the other crewmembers, to passively aggressively telling her that she'll have something to snack on soon (humans).
- Yet another instance from the prequel shows that the breakup between Kyra and Acktreal happened as late as DURING the expedition to Earth, providing some explanation on why Ackt would become so emotionally attached to her human test subject.
- It also explains why she finds it so difficult to believe that Subject 50499-A would love her the way she is. She expresses fears that she isn't "human" enough or too human at the same time, and even brings up various things that she thinks Subject 50499-A might consider a "dealbreaker," almost as if she's testing them. Like how her nostrils are on her forehead instead of on the front of her face, how her "hair" is actually sound-detecting "ofolates," how her skin and muscles are transparent, allowing anyone to have a peek at her internal organs, and how her "breasts" are actually venom glands that do not function like human breasts at all.
- Even as early as the first video, Acktreal is clearly torn. She has first-hand experience and evidence that humanity is sapient enough to qualify for full rights, and even admits it, but her feral instincts are screaming at her to eat Subject 50499-A, and it's the reason why she's biased in favor of humanity being classified as "livestock." After coming clean to Subject 50499-A about her romantic feelings for them, she expects the predatory instincts to go away, but they only worsen.
- Ackt REALLY wanted to reconcile with Tori after what she did to her. While Tori does calm down, she still gives Ackt the Silent Treatment and coldly rebuffs any attempt made by the latter to strike up a conversation. More salt is sprinkled onto the wound when Tori is senselessly murdered by Evian in an attempt to provoke a feeding frenzy from Ackt. Then to add insult to injury, she is later fed her remains out of sheer desperation by the rest of the crew during a feral episode.
Acktreal Domma: "She wanted to go home! That was all she wanted! Why is this happening?!"
- In part 8, Ackt admits that she's afraid that she is in love for Subject 50499-A for the wrong reasons. She implies that she's afraid that her romantic feelings toward them stem from her still wanting to eat them.
- Ackt's realizing that her venom glands are missing shortly after waking up from sedation, realizing that a crew member is out to sabotage her, especially since the surgery would not make her any less dangerous to others. She first suspects Kyra, her best friend.
Acktreal Domma: If Kyra did this....I can't believe this, I thought we were friends! Would she really think that I was that bad, that that was necessary?!
- Evianporial's sudden betrayal of Ackt seemingly comes out of nowhere, and everyone, especially Ackt, is incredibly shocked that he would hate her so much that he would go to any length to absolutely ruin her life.
- Ackt admitting to Subject 50499-A that she is developing feelings of self-doubt, if not self-loathing, because she envies human girls and worries that she is ugly or scary from Subject 50499-A's perspective. She finds it difficult to believe them when they tell her that they love her just the way she is.
- Some of what Ackt screams during her second feral episode is downright heartbreaking. Even though she is behaving like a starving animal at this point, her tone of voice at times sounds more like a frightened child, especially when she screams for her mother and complains loudly that she's having a bad dream. She eventually tackles Subject 50499-A to the ground, and right before attempting to swallow them whole, begs them to ease the emotional and mental agony she's experiencing.
- There's evidence in the videos after part 8 that Subject 50499-A is severely guilt-ridden over pressuring Ackt into engaging in risky mouthplay with them. They frantically ask Zedjichs for reassurance that nothing bad will happen to Ackt, and expresses horror when Zedjichs brings up the possibility of her losing her job or even having her venom glands removed. This culminates in an apparent suicide attempt during part 11 when they attempt to run off to get a feral Ackt to chase them instead of the crewmembers, apparently realizing they will be eaten as a result, and not caring.
- Kyra getting eaten alive by a feral Acktreal. It was earlier established that the two were childhood friends and even lovers at one point. Neither Oovoo nor Subject 50499-A can bear to tell her that she ate her best friend when she's lucid, as she's already plenty upset about the fact that she ate Tori's corpse.
- Over the course of part 11 and part 12, any remaining sympathy or trust that Zedjichs may have for Ackt seemingly evaporates, as she unflinchingly suggests lethal means to deal with a feral Ackt, and refuses to check up on Ackt after she locks herself in Subject 50499-A's old test cell.
Zedjichs: What if it's a trick? What if she's setting up bait?
Hiborich: Do you really think she's that bad?!
Zedjichs: Kyra didn't!
- As Ackt is imprisoned in the testing cell, she has a conversation with Subject 50499-A where they both talk about what they did wrong, acknowledging that some of the bad things that have happened were their fault. They take cold comfort in the fact that Evianporial set them up from the start, and Ackt tells Subject 50499-A that they need to break up for their own safety and for the safety of everyone else on the ship until she can receive proper treatment and figure out why humans are turning her feral.
- Even though she agrees that what Hiboritch did was for the best, Ackt seems visibly offended that he intentionally set her feral instincts off in order to kill the two space pirates.
- During a lengthy conversation with Subject 50499-A through the door, Ackt asks them to apologize to the rest of the crew on her behalf, and let them know that she is resigning from her job permanently, admitting that she has had a fulfilling career so far regardless of the traumatic experiences during the expedition to Earth, and the strong certainty of her losing her job anyway.
- In the same conversation, she admits that she still has intrusive thoughts about eating Subject 50499-A, immediately after reflecting on how the Counsel will be very anxious to make things up to them after almost victimizing humanity.
- In Part 14, Ackt tells Subject 50499-A about her intention to commit suicide via airlock, only to stop when they threaten to open the door in order to stop her. In the ensuing conversation, in order to distract herself and Subject 50499-A, Ackt talks about her childhood. She admits that her childhood wasn't very ideal. That she was often mistreated for being a carnivore, and more specifically, for going out of her way to befriend herbivore species, and not strictly adhering to the guidelines for how to act around them.
- Also in part 14, Subject 50499-A is told that a similar species to humanity was used as a hormonal drug to keep Enxions under control and to subjugate them, only being destroyed when they proved to be TOO potent. Further implying that for how they once looked down upon humanity for not getting along very well, they sure as hell don't treat each other much better.
- Ackt finally finds out what happened to Kyra, and laments that there is no corpse remaining for her to bury. She is at first angry that Oovoo lied to her about it, but then in the same breath, admits that she herself was ready to commit suicide by going out the airlock. It then dawns on her why Oovoo chose to not tell her the truth until they were in the hospital.
- Ackt does some mouthplay with Subject 50499-A one last time before their surgery to remove their pheromone glands and replace them with safer "synthetic" pheromones so that Ackt can go off her meds. She admits after the fact that the flavor will "haunt her forever."
- Eravin later reveals that Subject 50499-A had been staying at her place, along with the Astronaut, whenever Acktreal had relapses. Even after the Subject 50499-A's surgery, it's likely that she'll still have struggles for the rest of her life.
