Go To

  • The episode opens with a parody of "Da Doo Ron Ron" by The Crystals as the basis of a Reagan campaign ad.
  • "Murder Most Fowler" is a pastiche of Hammer Horror, although the phrase "murder most foul" comes from Hamlet.
  • The Saatchis appear in a sketch based on an awareness campaign from the Advertising Standards Authority claiming that Thatcher's previous campaigns claims didn't meet ASA standards.
  • An old lady gets attacked as she walks down the street singing Don't Dilly Dally on the Way.
  • The attacker with Diplomatic Immunity produces a card that reads "Arabian Excuse" with the voiceover reciting the phrase "don't leave home without one" in a nod to the American Express slogan, "Don't leave home without it."
  • The Rubber News format of two newsreaders trading off Feghoots is based on a similar set-up done by The Two Ronnies.
  • David Attenborough picks up the phone only to hear someone singing the chorus of "Hello" by Lionel Richie.
  • The A Cappella group singing about how they're so ugly that they look like something out of Night of the Living Dead (1968) is meant to be The Flying Pickets. The melody of the song they sing is a Suspiciously Similar Substitute for their main hit, a cover of Yazoo's "Only You."
