Here are the shout-outs made by Midori Days:
- Episode 4's visit to a "figurine shop" briefly displays recognizable tributes to Rei Ayanami, Cardcaptor Sakura and at least a dozen other anime girls; there's also a parody of the Toho Studios standard movie opening.
- The Makinohas are flush with these. A robot controlled by wristwatch? Check. A cyborg that's mobile without legs, had feelings, and the head is self-sustained? Check. A bunch of mass-produced androids, that suspiciously looks like something from Zentradi? Check.
- Crocodile's Hook in Chapter 25.
- Gash's book pops up in Chapter 37.
- A manga version of A Clockwork Orange pops up in Chapter 46.
- Rin pulls a Shin on a biker who was unfortunate enough to overtake her.
- In Chapter 57, there are two characters who are clearly cosplaying as Naruto Uzamaki and Monkey D. Luffy. Additionally, there are two women who cosplay as Yuna and Rikku from Final Fantasy X.
- Volume 4's cover has Seiji wearing a sweater with The Who on it.
- Lucy and Rina bear more than a striking resemblance to Tiffany Lords and Chairperson, respectively. Additionally, the former reminds one physically, of Winry. The fact that her last name is Winrad might suggest that this is intentional.
- There's the Beniko chick from Midori's school, who looks a helluva lot like Benio from Ouran High School Host Club. The name's (almost) the same, even.
- In Chapter 64, Seiji's manga-only first love and Childhood Friend Yukino Asano is a Yaoi Fangirl who references a doujinshi manga she helps make with a story summary that sounds strangely like the plot to Knight Hunters.
- Also in Chapter 64, when Seiji and Midori takes a look at Asano's BL work, their faces turned into the same face as the Ultramen aliens.
