SpongeBob DocuPants is an eight episode Mockumentary anthology series hosted by news anchor Kent Shocknek.
The series explores SpongeBob SquarePants storylines if they were read in a similar format as docu-shows such as E! True Hollywood Story, Dateline, and Behind the Music.
The series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on May 14, 2020, and Paramount+ on March 24, 2021.
SpongeBob DocuPants provides examples of:
- Ambiguous Situation: By the end of "The Hash-Slinging Slasher", one question remains. Was the Hash-Sling Slasher a kid the whole time? Or was the spirit chased away when the kid showed up at the Krusty Krab?
- Mockumentary: Each episode features a plot from one or more SpongeBob episodes if they were told through a documentary.
- No Honor Among Thieves: Implied in "The Nasty Patty", where Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob turn on each other after the cops find the fridge being empty.
- Talking Heads: In addition to Shocknek's narrations, actors who play as witnesses or otherwise experts give their own input on the situation.
