Go To

A True Crime documentary produced by Beyond International Group that focuses on female perpetrators, much unlike the usual fare of the genre. It was initially broadcast in 2005 as a three-part miniseries on Investigation Discovery but was revived in 2008, reaching 14 seasons of length. Hosted by Candice De Long, a former FBI criminal profiler; the first iteration featured Lynnanne Zager as the narrator, with Marsha Crenshaw replacing her once the show got a regular airing schedule.

Deadly Women presents each case with a "dramatic reconstruction" approach, employing actors to in small scenes that complement the narration and reinforce the points exposed by the host.

Tropes:

  • Death by Woman Scorned: The motive of one of the murderers was jealousy toward her husband cheating on her.
  • Generic Cop Badges: Some pretty generic-looking emblems are seen on law enforcement officers in different stories. Could be brought down to the show's low budget and the fact that the cases shown occur in various places so it would take a great effort to always be accurate.
  • Hot for Preacher: One of the segments profiles a nun who murders a fellow sister, insanely jealous and disapproving of her relationship with the priest, feeling that she was an evil woman who was corrupting him.
  • Mandatory Motherhood: "Deadly Women Who Kill Their Own" relates the story of Marie Noe, who kills all TEN of her children because she truly does not want children, but her priest said having her tubes tied would be a mortal sin. She is only caught, at age 70, when she confesses to the killings.
