Talking Simpsons is a podcast hosted by Bob Mackey and Henry Gilbert, going through every episode of The Simpsons in chronological order.
Tropes:
- Author Appeal: Bob and Henry are huge fans of Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein's work on the series. They give their episodes some of the most praise, and their seasons (7 and 8) are both their favourites. They've also interviewed Bill and Josh multiple times.
- Once per Episode:
- For a long time each one had a "Line of the Episode", highlighting the host's favorite line.
- "Take That, Lisa's Beliefs!", introduced in the Mike Scully run to highlight when the show goes out of its way to make fun of Lisa Simpson's views.
Trivia:
- Real Song Theme Tune:
- The intro and outro music for the series is music from The Simpsons.
- Henry's "Tales from the Tape" segment is the first few seconds of the theme from The X-Files.
YMMV:
- Broken Base:
- Did the show get better or worse after Chris Antista left it?
- Some guest stars have proven controversial among fans:
- on the episode "Pokey Mom". Some thought his rambling, detailed style of hosting worked well, while others thought he digressed too much and lengthened the episode.
- Guests from the Chapo Trap House podcast. Some think their style, and the fact they're picked for landmark episodes such as "Homer's Enemy" and "Along Again, Natura-Diddly"
