Swimming pools, movie stars

Sammy was a short-lived NBC animated sitcom that aired in 2000. It was animated by Adelaide Productions, the same company behind Jumanji: The Animated Series and Dilbert. The show has David Spade in a dual role as Sammy Blake and James Blake, a father and son who lived together in a L.A. mansion. James is the star of a gimmicky sitcom; his agent Mark Jacobs (Andy Dick) keeps trying to get him more work, while his assistant Kathy Kelly (Maura Tierney) is the possible love interest. Also in tow were James's brothers Todd (Harland Williams) and Gary (Bob Odenkirk), as well as Gary's kids.

How short lived was it? NBC only aired two episodes Note , and was never re-run anywhere(and some affiliates reportedly never even aired the show at all). Information about it was scarce, and nobody had any recordings uploaded(probably because promotion for the show was almost non-existent, with promos literally only being ONE SECOND) which almost seemed beyond belief in the archivist nature of the internet. For twenty years, Sammy was one of the prime examples of lost media...

...At least, until 2021. A YouTube user finally started uploading episodes from the vaults, not only showcasing the two episodes that made it to air, but the other eleven that were shelved. Which proves the old saying: Never say never.
